Even though scans showed no sign of the infection, the steroids began to feed the fungus and a week later he contracted Pseudomonas Meningitis and went into septic shock. In December 2012 he had to have brain surgery to remove the infection pocket that formed, a tube placed to drain the fluid build up for over a month, and eventually a shunt placed in his brain to create a new drain for spinal fluid. PJ was in ICU for 58 days before his family got the "okay" to go home.
With almost 2 years of physical and occupational therapy, PJ was back to his "normal self" - "Being able to walk, talk and get around again," his mom says, "he really made it through this time! Almost dying twice, we give thanks to the great Lord above that PJ is doing great now!" PJ is officially in remission from ALL and his last chemo was on July 26 2015! Right now he just has his monthly routine check ups. His mom declares that he is doing great and actually starting school! What an amazing little fighter and cancer survivor?! Help us show this mini but mighty super hero some love!
