In 2014 I was in a place where I wanted to creatively spread hope into the hearts of those who just needed a quick smile over positivity on social media. Inspired by the simplicity of the photography on @beckahshae's Rest album, I chose to make all of these pictures black and white. What I wasn't prepared for was to receive message after message from people, mostly teenagers, who were struggling in some way and who were touched by this account. For them to read that there was in fact hope, even if they didn't yet believe it, was something that planted a seed in their lives that would eventually prove to be fruitful. I wasn't prepared for that. I wasn't prepared for these conversations. I wasn't prepared to deeply help people. I wasn't prepared for the following this account would receive; I was so sure half of my own friends wouldn't even follow let alone strangers. I wasn't prepared to talk people struggling with eating disorders, depression, self-injuring and thoughts of suicide off the ledge and to hear about how these pictures that illustrated their captions spoke to their hearts. I had no idea the impact God was capable of using through social media, through my words, through me. So after four years of existing in black and white, I've decided to change the direction of this account just a tad and bring you some color. I will continue to post here. I will continue to talk to you. I will continue to grow close to you. I commit to sharing with you some of my life as well. We are all in this life together. God made each of us for one another. He sees the big picture, even when we do not and in those times when it's hard to have faith in the future, may we chose to trust by closing our eyes and entrusting all of our control to Jesus.
