💪🏽Foam rolling or self myofascial release, is a handy way to increase ROM without a decrease in muscle activation or force💯

😃Foam rolling also helps reduce DOMS post workout, but the exact mechanism for this is unknown🤔

🙏There isn't much research on duration available, but I recommend 20-30secs per muscle group, pressure should be quite firm 👌

❌PRESS DOWN MISTAKE❌

🚨In the past I thought that if I grabbed a straight bar with an underhand grip (supinated) it would be hitting my triceps from “different angles” resulting in better results and an added means to switch things up
-
😑This is a myth, where many believe having your palms up (“reverse grip”, supinated) you are targeting the triceps differently
-
💯But, the elbow is straightening in the same exact way in both cases. The triceps function is to extend the elbow and cannot tell the difference between hand placements. Doing it this way is actually significantly less beneficial because you will not be able to use as much of a load and put nearly as much overload and tension on the triceps. In fact a lot of the tension will go to your forearms

🔑Just from trying these over the years I have experienced exactly this. Even just taking this photo yesterday at the end of the workout I could feel how inferior the reverse grip was in recruiting the triceps as a whole and to maximize it’s strength

A message to my young brothers in iron that you might not hear from the fitness world: Your worth or status as a man has nothing to do with your physique. The size of your muscles, or the amount of weight you can lift, or your "aesthetics" don't make you more of a man. Do those things have the ability to impact how the world sees you on first impression? Of course. But when it's all said and done, it's how you put your body to use in this life that will make you a good man. Despite what mass-media may lead you to believe, you are not made into a man by how you look, how strong you are, how much you can drink, how many women you can pick up, or how much money you make. A man is defined by his core values and the ways in which those values guide his decisions.
These are just some of the things I constantly try to work on and remind myself of. Growth in these areas is far more important than physical growth (although sometimes, the proper training and mindset for physical improvement flows directly from these): 🔸carry yourself with a sense of self respect and integrity
🔸take pride in your work and in your conduct 🔸work hard and work with ambition 🔸don't fear failure; have confidence that you can cope with and overcome any failure 🔸don't be afraid to be emotionally vulnerable at the right times; be confident that you are strong enough to handle any potential pain 🔸stay humble and know that you always have more to learn 🔸stand firm in your values; don't compromise yourself to appease others
🔸don't be afraid to stand alone, but show love for those that stand with you.
The list goes on, but these are just some thoughts that popped into my head as is wrote this. Feel free to add more.

Something I don’t believe is talked about enough these days is what is going on the inside rather than the normal, what we are doing and showing on the outside.

Even with training a lot of people only look to what is on the outside, why isn’t my body performing? I am doing everything I can think of, why am I still not getting results?

A lot of the time the problems can be found internally, and one problem we find that can affect people the most is a lack of self-confidence. This is like trying to run while having a car attached to you with it’s breaks on. To me, what self-confidence brings is the ability to have a positive belief in your future that anything you wish can be accomplished.

Imagine if you applied that way of thinking into your training, what could you accomplish?

It can be a bit scary to start to look internally but, I promise you, once you do consistently you will see a change in not only your training but in yourself as well

Note the hiccup at setup, that's trying to run cues through my dome before executing the deadlift. It sucks, like a month out from a #usapl meet, in a competitive weight class, to be tearing down my form BUT I'd rather dial it down and do it right and remain injury free. At least my #bouldershoulders look decent 🤷

After taking roughly three weeks off from squatting and deadlifting in an attempt to ease lower lumbar pain I hopped back under the bar today. Modified the Ogus753 and added 10lbs on each set of 7. Went light and finished with this set of 245. I actually did 9 reps because I lost count but it felt lighter than I had expected. If you're wondering what's up with the band.......
