Okay, now I'm ready to tell you all about Calypso Star Charters, @calypsostarcharters , and my Shark Cage experience in Port Lincoln. This is genuinely a bucket list experience that I chose to do and I wanted to do this in Australia where I know the industry is well regulated and there are only a handful of operators. Heaps of people are asking if I was scared and the answer is no, not of the sharks. Getting used to the regulator was the hardest part because I'm not a diver but the crew were great in encouraging you and letting you go up and down a few times. Once you're in the cage your head is probably only 1-2 feet under the water and you hold on to inner bars, enabling you to be comfortable, get a good look around but not extend any body parts outside the cage. Interestingly the Neptune Islands, where this tour takes place, is not a home for sharks. They are transient here and can be around for a week or two before moving on, that's why the permits are issued for this area. I shot my images on my Olympus E-M1 Mark II and a fish eye lens. Next time I'd love to have a longer lens to capture the shark when it's further away. Any questions?
