••Liturgical Feast of Blessed Emperor Charles I of Austria••
Emperor Charles I (also known as Emperor Karl of Austria), was born in Persenbeug Castle (Austria-Hungary), on August 17, 1887. Charles I married Princess Zita of Bourbon-Parma on October 21, 1911. He and his wife were not only of revered royal lineages, but they were also devout Roman Catholics. On the day after their wedding, the Emperor said to his newly-wed wife, "Now, we must help each other to get to Heaven." It was without a doubt, for the most part, that Catholicism played an important role in the reign of Emperor Charles I. In 1914, Charles I became the designated "heir presumptive" to the throne of Austria-Hungary, after his uncle, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, was assassinated in Sarajevo (the incident that incited the First World War). In 1916, he ascended to the throne, after the death of Emperor Franz Joseph, his grand-uncle. On November 21, 1916, Emperor Charles I became the Emperor of Austria, and on December 30th, he was crowned Apostolic King of Hungary. Emperor Charles I was the last ruler of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (He was the last Emperor of Austria, and the last King of Hungary), as well as the last monarch belonging to the House of Habsburg-Lorraine. His Faith and obedience to the Church influenced his reign, and he considered his position to be a "holy service to his people." Many people also consider his reign to have expressed Catholic social teachings. He is also seen as a "peacemaker" of WWI, and he was one of the only leaders who supported and strived to accomplish Pope Benedict XV's peace efforts. He had a deep devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Holy Eucharist. Sadly, Emperor Charles I died in Madeira, Portugal on April 1, 1922. He was 34 years old at the time of his death. He is on his way to Sainthood. In 1954, he was declared "Servant of God," and in April 2003, due to his heroic virtues, he was given the title of "Venerable." In December 2003, the Congregation for the Causes of Saints attributed and certified a miracle that occurred in 1960, to his intercession. 🔹👇🏽(Continued in comments)🔹👇🏽

•••Feast Day of St. John Paul II•••
The life and legacy that Pope John Paul II left behind is truly outstanding. He was an inspiration for Catholics, and non-Catholics alike. If I started talking about all the admirable things that he did, I wouldn't finish for at least a few hours. He strongly impacted the Church, and the world. He reigned as Supreme Pontiff for almost 30 years, making his pontificate one of the longest in history. He was known as the "pilgrim pope" who traveled all around the world, visiting his flock in every corner of the earth. Pope John Paul II also brought Communism to its knees, and he played a key role in its fall. These are just a few of the many impactful and admirable things that he did for our world, but like I said, we don't have the time to mention all of them! Pope Francis on Saturday morning addressed the winners of the 2016 Ratzinger Prize, Msgr Inos Biffi and Ioannis Kourempeles, in the Vatican’s Clementine Hall.
Awarded by the Joseph Ratzinger-Benedict XVI Vatican Foundation, the Ratzinger Prize is given as a sign of the Church’s gratitude to scholars and professors who have stood out for their scientific research in the theological field.
Msgr Biffi, a professor, and internationally renowned theologian and liturgist, was awarded the prize for his Opera Omnia, a collection of his writings, most of which are on theology and medieval philosophy.
The other winner, Prof Kourempeles is a member of the Orthodox Church, is associate professor in the Department of Theology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
In his address to the winners, Pope Francis began by expressing “great affection” and “gratitude” for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, as he “continues to accompany us even now in his prayer.”
“The depth of Joseph Ratzinger’s thought, firmly founded upon Scripture and the [Church] Fathers, and always nourished by faith and prayer, helps us to remain open to the horizons of eternity, thus giving meaning even to our hopes and our human responsibilities,” the Holy Father said.
The Pope spoke of Benedict XVI’s richness in “thought and magisterium, which knew how to center on the essential reference points of our Christian life, the person of Jesus Christ, charity, hope, faith. And the whole Church will be forever grateful.”
Pope Francis went on to congratulate the winners of the 2016 Ratzinger Prize; Msgr Biffi who received the award in recognition of his career as a “great theologian”, and Prof Kourempeles for his work in exploring the “richness of the encounter between Ratzinger’s thought and Orthodox theology”.
He concluded by praying that the Lord might always bless them and their “service to his kingdom.”

October 22nd - Feast of Pope St John Paul II
Born as Karol Wojtyla in Wadowice, Poland on May 18th, 1920 to a Catholic family. When young Karol was 9, his Mother died, which lead him to develop a strong devotion to Our Lady. It is said that when he learned of his mothers death that he went straight to the church and told Our Lady that she was to be his Mother now. His Brother died 3 years later, then his Father died when Karol was 20. By this time Poland was under Nazi occupation and Karol felt the calling to the priesthood. Karol had to train in secret in an underground seminary. He was then ordained in 1946. In 1948, Karol then went to Rome to study under the Franciscans. When he returned to Poland, he spent many years teaching at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Karol became Bishop in 1958, then Archbishop of Krakow in 1964. Then Cardinal in 1967. Then on October 22nd, 1978, Karol Cardinal Wojtyla became Pope John Paul II. It is important to remember that Karol had visited St Padre Pio while he was Archbishop of Krakow. Padre told Karol about his most painful stigmata wound which was on his soldier which he had never told anybody else and never did tell anyone else afterwards. His Papacy lasted 26 years and 6 months, The third longest reigning Pope. His Papacy was marked by his great devotion to Divine Mercy and his love for the youth. He beatified over 1,300 people and canonised a further 469 during his papacy. He instituted the feast of Divine Mercy to be the first Sunday after Easter Sunday. Pope St John Paul II then died on April 2nd, 2005, the eve of Divine Mercy Sunday aged 84. Pope St John Paul II was canonised on Divine Mercy Sunday 2014 by Pope Francis. He is the Patron Saint of World Youth Day.

St Teresa of Avila's Humour: “I am more afraid of one unhappy sister than a crowd of evil spirits….What would happen if we hid what little sense of humor we had? Let each of us humbly use this to cheer others.” Once, when she was travelling to one of her convents, St. Teresa of Ávila was knocked off her donkey and fell into the mud, injuring her leg. “Lord,” she said, “you couldn’t have picked a worse time for this to happen. Why would you let this happen?”
And the response in prayer that she heard was, “That is how I treat my friends.”
Teresa answered, “And that is why you have so few of them!”

October 18th - Feast of St Luke the Evangelist

St. Luke came from Antioch, was a practicing physician and was one of the first converts to Christianity. He accompanied St. Paul, who converted him, on his missionary journeys and was still with him in Rome when St. Paul was in prison awaiting death. We hear no more of him afterwards and nothing is known of his last years. The Church venerates him as a Martyr.

St. Luke's Gospel is principally concerned with salvation and mercy; in it are preserved some of our Lord's most moving parables, like those of the lost sheep and the prodigal son. Dante calls St. Luke the "historian of the meekness of Christ." It is also St. Luke who tells us the greater part of what we know about our Lord's childhood.

St. Luke did not personally know our Lord, and like St. Mark, the author of the second Gospel, he is not included among the apostles. For this reason the Gospel chosen for their feast is the account of the sending forth of the seventy-two disciples. According to St. Jerome, St. Luke died in Achaia, Greece at the age of 84, and it is unknown whether or not he died a martyr's death. His name means "bringer of light". He is the Patron Saint of Artists; bachelors; bookbinders; brewers; butchers; glassworkers; goldsmiths; lacemakers; notaries; painters; physicians; sculptors; stained glass workers; surgeons.

His Holiness Pope Francis celebrating Holy Mass, Ad Orientem, at the tomb of Pope St. John Paul II. Shortly after being beatified, the Body of St. JPII was moved from the Vatican grottoes, and placed in a new tomb that is used as an altar on which the Holy Sacrifice of our Lord is made. #RomanCatholic #EasternCatholic #CatholicChurch #IglesiaCatolica #OneHolyCatholicApostolic #UnaSantaCatolicaApostolica #UnamSanctamCatolicamApostolicam #PopeFrancis #PapaFrancisco #PopeEmeritus #PopeBenedictXVI #PopeEmeritusBenedictXVI #StJohnPaulii #PopeJPII #SuccessorOfPeter #SuccessorOfThePrinceOfTheApostles #RomanPontiff #SupremePontiff #FaithfulRomanCatholic #JesusChrist #VirginMary #Blessed #OraProNobis #Vatican #HolySee #StJohnPaulii #PopeJohnPaulii #PapaJuanPabloii #VaticanGrottoes

St Faustina's vision of Hell: "Today, I was led by an Angel to the chasms of hell. It is a place of great torture; how awesomely large and extensive it is! The kinds of tortures I saw: the first torture that constitutes hell is the loss of God; the second is perpetual remorse of conscience; the third is that one’s condition will never change; the fourth is the fire that will penetrate the soul without destroying it, a terrible suffering, since it is a purely spiritual fire, lit by God’s anger; the fifth torture is continual darkness and a terrible suffocating smell, and despite the darkness, the devils and the souls of the damned see each other and all the evil, both of others and their own; the sixth torture is the constant company of satan, the seventh torture is horrible despair, hatred of God, vile words, curses and blasphemies. These are the tortures suffered by all the damned together, but that is not the end of the sufferings. There are special tortures destined for particular souls. These are the torments of the senses. Each soul undergoes terrible and indescribable sufferings, related to the manner in which it has sinned. There are caverns and pits of torture where one form of agony differs from another. I would have died at the very sight of these tortures if the omnipotence of God had not supported me. Let the sinner know that he will be tortured throughout all eternity, in those senses which he made use of to sin. I am writing this at the command of God, so that no soul may find an excuse by saying there is no hell, or that nobody has ever been there, and so no one can say what it is like. I, sister Faustina, by the order of God, have visited the abysses of hell so that I might tell souls about it and testify to its existence....(CONTINUED IN COMMENTS)

October 15th - Feast of St Teresa of Avila "Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks

Pope St. John XXIII seated on the Sedia Gestatoria, in St. Peter's Square. The Sedia Gestatoria was used to carry the Holy Father above the crowds during a procession, and it glorified the Papacy. It was used for many years until 1978, when Pope John Paul I became the last pontiff to make use of it. The past few popes, starting with St. John Paul II, have replaced it with the Popemobile. Hopefully someday, the use of the Sedia Gestatoria --as well as the Papal Triregnum, and the extravagant papal vestments-- are revived to better glorify the role, and office, of the Supreme Roman Pontiff, and to better glorify God Almighty. October 13th 1917 - Sixth Apparition of Our Lady at Fatima and the Miracle of the Sun

Visionary: "What do you want of me?" Our Lady: I want a chapel built here in my honor. I want you to continue saying the Rosary every day. The war will end soon, and the soldiers will return to their homes.

Visionary: "Yes. Yes."
Will you tell me your name?" Our Lady: I am the Lady of the Rosary.

Visionary:"I have many petitions from many people. Will you grant them?" Our Lady: Some I shall grant, and others I must deny. People must amend their lives and ask pardon for their sins. They must not offend our Lord any more, for He is already too much offended!

Visionary: "And is that all you have to ask?" Our Lady: There is nothing more.
