Mallakhamb-yoga (Yoga on wooden Pole) with Aditya and Manisha
will be having a workshop this (24th - 25th of November, 11AM-12:30PM and 5:00PM-6:30PM, They will be giving a free introductory workshop to mallakhamb -yoga this 23rd of Nov. so everyone is welcome.
Mallakhamb is an Indian traditional sport in which a person practices Yogic postures on a vertical wooden Pole, mostly made up of (sheesham) Indian rosewood.
Malla means a wrestler/warrior and Khamb means Pole so Mallakhamb brings out the warrior in us by making us overcome our many fears.
This way of practice requires a minimum level of fitness to start with but one ends up building immense strength, balance and concentration.
Mallakhamb has no age bar, its for anyone and everyone and for all age group. Its all about taking up an intensive exercise and rediscovering how powerful ones mind and body can be. The Pole or "Khamb" requires the person to twist, turn, stretch and balance, which builds up grace, agility and suppleness combined with quick reflexes, muscle co-ordination and sense of timing. Its one of the best anti-gravity workout anyone can offer to their body. According to a research conducted in Germany, Mallakhamb is one of those sport which provides intense workout to the entire body with minimum effort.
The Sheesham Pole is known for toughness and smoothness, combining it with Yoga, we are trying to build the same characteristics in the participants body and mind.
