So we are on a little roadtrip, stopping at random destinations throughout Troms and Nordland in Norway. I have been following this park for a while on IG ( @polarpark ), and must admit I have been very sceptical of buying a ticket to anyplace that keeps animals in captivity, but from seeing what a beautiful place this is on IG I wanted to give it a chance and see what they are about.
This arctic wildlife center has the worlds largest areal per animal! 🙌🏼
Also, all the animals here are animals found in the norwegian wilderness so their habitats are 100% natural, no mimicking. There are no exotic animals like elephants and such.
It is also important to keep in mind that most- if not all of these animals have a high chance of being shot & killed in the wild due to hunters and farmers. The majority here are predators (lynx, wolves, bears), wolves for example are being killed at a very high rate in Norway. The wolves in this park are 100% safe from any hunters.
I don't support captivity, and never will, but this wildlife park is much more than that. These animals have huuuuuge enclosures, so big that it is recommended to bring binoculars.
It's kind of like going on a safari in the norwegian wilderness 🌲
This pic is from the highlight of my day. A moose.
I see wild moose in the winter around my home, but I love these clumsy looking animals so much 😅
