GRIMMS RAINBOWS AND PASTEL ARCHES... Q&As... .What age are these suitable for?? As they are very open ended, they are relevant to all ages, but at each age/stage the child will use them differently- that is the real beauty 💗 They are often popular as a birthday gifts including first birthdays as its something that grows with your child and just lasts forever. ..
.which size should I get? I think most of us "big kids" want the large one hehe. 👐👐 but if your budget doesn't stretch quite as far, you can explore all the same concepts with the medium as the large. The large just offers a little more in terms of the scale of patterns and designs you could create and experiment with. .
They look pretty but what can a younger child actually do with it? Being open ended means there is no right or wrong way to play.. and with all the modelling they will get from watching you play with it 😉, they will be keen to join in. A few examples on play with the rainbows... at around 13 months my toddler would pick up turn the pieces, often upside down and rock them, at nearly 2 she is starting to stack and build, knock down, match colours with the people etc. At 3, 4yrs they may begin to build, make shapes/pictures with the arches, use it in imaginary and small world play, they become houses, tunnels, bridges, cradles. 4,5,6 you may start to see more complex structures and pictures and experimenting with the different shapes and properties of movement etc...and still of course small world play. the options are limitless really. And of course big kids including us still love to build a d create with these beauties..
I should also add the endless learning opportunities... imagination, creativity, spatial awareness, properties of materials, colour recognition and matching, patterning, seriation, size and shape, exploration, curiosity... I could go on all day! .
