Orange cranberry star bread by @sean_laics 🎄
For bread: 3 tsp yeast. 1 cup warm water. 2 cups all purpose flour. 1/8 cup cane sugar. 1/2 tsp salt. 3 tbsp coconut oil.
For cranberry jam: 220 grams fresh cranberries. 1/2 cup orange juice. 1 cup sugar.
To make cranberry jam, put all ingredients in a saucepan, bring it to a boil. Once boiling, turn the heat down and cover it with a lit. Let it simmer for 5 min or until desired consistency.
Pour yeast in 1/2 cup warm water, sprinkle some sugar. Stir to combine and set it aside. Whisk flour, sugar and salt in a bowl until well combined. Add in oil and yeast mixture.
Mix it with a wooden spoon then knead it on a floured surface for a couple of minutes or until you form a smooth ball. Keep the dough in an oiled bowl to let it rise to double in size (around an hour).
Once the dough has risen, divide it into four equal balls, then roll out each ball into a circle with a rolling pin. Use an 9” dinner plate as a guide.
Spread the cranberry jam on the first piece of dough, leaving half an inch around the edges empty. Lay the second circled dough on top, spread the jam. Lay the third layer and spread the jam. Lastly, lay the final piece of dough on top.
Place the dinner plate in the center and cut out the extra edges. Place a small circular object (like a glass) in the center. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces, follow by clock wise.
Then divide each triangle into an equal half. Now you should have 8 equal triangles. Divide each triangle into half again, to a total of 16 triangle.
Now, hold the edges of 2 triangles, gently twist them out to opposite direction, twice. Pinch the end together. Repeat the same process for the other 7 pairs of triangles.
Once done, set aside and let it rise for another 20 min. Bake at preheated 175 C in oven for 15 min.

baked sweet potato fries
3 large sweet potatoes, scrubbed clean and dried
2 tablespoons melted coconut oil (or avocado oil)
1/2 teaspoon himalayan pink salt

avocado cashew sauce
1 cup raw sprouted cashews (soaked for at least 6 hours)
1 fresh lime, juiced
1 spring onion or the white part of scallions, optional
Himalayan pink salt or sea salt, to taste
Cilantro, scallions, smoked paprika and other desired toppings

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and grease baking sheet. Chop sweet potatoes into matchsticks by halving, halving once more, then cutting into strips. Toss in oil until well coated. Season with salt and toss again. Arrange in a single layer on baking sheet and bake for around 20 minutes, then flip for even cooking. Bake for another 10-15 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.

While baking, prep dipping sauce by blending cashews, lime juice, onions and salt in a food processor until smooth. Mash avocado in a separate bowl, add to mixture then stir well. Top with smoked paprika, fresh cilantro, scallions and other desired toppings. Best when fresh. Enjoy!

I’ve been getting several people asking me how do I know whether or not someone is wearing real fur and where they can get the I’M AN ASSHOLE I WEAR FUR stickers from, so I thought I would make a post about it and address those questions here.

Look at the tips of the hairs. If the tips taper to a fine point like a cat's whisker or a sewing needle or a a sharpened pencil, it's animal fur. If not, it's probably faux fur.

Sometimes when I see people wearing certain brands I already know that they are associated with real fur, like Canada Goose for example.

If you are able to feel the fur which I usually can’t, I’ve just become good at spotting it from being around it so often when I’m in colder climates, real Fur feels very soft to the touch, falls in a smooth and sleek line, passes through your fingers as if you're petting a cat.

Faux fur: feels coarse and rough to touch, it feels synthetic usually but now a days some faux fur can be very soft.

Lentils and chioggia beetroot lunch by @marydevinat 💚
Recipe⠀
Ingredient :⠀
2 large chioggia beets (or 4 small)⠀
1 cup green lentils⠀
100g lacto-fermented pesto tofu⠀
1 beautiful bunch of parsley⠀
2 tbsp olive oil⠀
1 tsp mustard⠀
1 tsp cider vinegar⠀
salt and pepper⠀

1. Start by cooking the lentils according to the instructions of the package, about 20 minutes in boiling water.⠀
2. Wash the beets, peel them. Using a mandolin, cut them thinly into strips.⠀
3. Chop the parsley and in a small bowl, mix the olive oil, mustard and vinegar with a little salt and pepper. Place all the ingredients in a large salad bowl, crumble the tofu like feta, mix and serve! #letscookvegan

13/12/17 - dinner today was satay tofu with spinach and some pastina with vegan cheese 🦄 really struggled today with all the food I had to eat and I felt really overwhelmed by all the unknown calories, and I went to the gym to compensate BUT I went shopping and bought myself some vegan chocolate spread even though ana was screaming in my ear to not buy it!! Einen zauberhaften, schneereichen Tag wünsche ich euch! Ich bin bestens gelaunt und genieße den Anblick der noch etwas vorhandenen Schneewelt ungemein. Nach meinem gestrigen (zugegebenermaßen recht kurzen) Training wollte ich am liebsten noch Stunden weiter durch das Winterparadies spazieren. Leider saßen mir aber das Essay und ein Termin am Abend im Nacken, sodass ich brav nach Hause gestiefelt bin und weiter geschrieben habe. Jetzt ist es fast fertig und vermutlich morgen zur Abgabe bereit. Endlich! 🙈
Heute ist bereits der sechste und somit letzte Tag mit 1000-1100kcal und ich kann kaum glauben, dass ich das tatsächlich durchgezogen habe. Ich bin wahnsinnig stolz darauf, allen Versuchungen widerstanden zu haben (und davon gab es viele!). Der morgige letzte Tag der Speedweek sieht einen kohlenhydratlastigen, fettarmen Refeed Day vor und ich freue mich bereits wie bekloppt auf was Richtiges zu Essen. Da das Konzept der Speedweek für mich logisch erscheint und ich damit offensichtlich zurecht komme, werde ich die kommenden Monate jeweils nach drei Wochen eine durchführen, bis ich zufrieden bin. Ich schätze, dass dafür vier bis fünf Zyklen nötig sein werden.

Insgesamt bin ich erstaunt, dass ich die schweren Gewichte beim Training halten konnte. Stattdessen habe ich die ein oder andere (Isolations-) Übung weggelassen, was mir aber deutlich lieber war, als weniger Gewicht zu bewegen. Bei den Hip Thrusts habe ich gestern sogar zehn Kilo zusätzlich draufgepackt, sodass mein Gesäß auch heute noch ordentlich on fire ist. 🔥😁 By the way: weiß jemand, wo man archivierte Beiträge wiederfindet?! 😂 Ich habe die Funktion gestern spaßeshalber getestet und dann festgestellt, dass ich die Beiträge nicht mehr wiederfinde. 🤦😂

I don’t anymore 😅 When I was younger I loved winter because I was a snowboard addict but now that I like the alps more in the summer to hike, I have nothing to look forward when it gets nasty and snows. Because I like to be outside, ride my bike, be shirtless etc and that all is just more enjoyable in summer 😎 Anyways, it’s still fun that we don’t have only 1 season year round but our planet switches up so that we can show off all our fashion 👙🧤😅

Ingredients 🍞⠀
2 cups of wholemeal flour (whole-wheat)⠀
1 cup of soy or nut milk⠀
1/2 cup of sultanas⠀
1/3 cup of coconut oil⠀
1/2 cup of stevia or sweetener of your choice⠀
2 tbsp of crushed walnuts⠀
1 tsp of vanilla⠀
1 mandarine juiced⠀
1 tsp of finely grated zest of mandarines⠀
2 tsp of baking powder⠀

Method 🍞⠀
1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees Celsius,⠀
2. Line a tin with baking paper,⠀
3. Mix all the dry ingredients together and then add in the wet ingredients.⠀
4. Mix and pour in your cake tin. Top with sliced mandarines and walnuts. ⠀
5. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes at 175degrees. ⠀

I LOVE trying out new recipes and ideas. I was so excited when @jamieoliver and @jimmysfarm were cooking up some tasty vegetarian feasts a couple of weeks ago on #jamieandjimmysfridaynightfeast . Last night we gave the #vegan 'Serpent' a try and I'm so happy with how it turned out! Personally, I feel it looks just like Jamie's 😝. We filled ours with red lentils instead of pearl barley. I may tweak the recipe slightly and have this for Christmas lunch instead of a nut roast 🤔. Yummy!! 💚 #veganfood

Forgiveness

You will not be able to forgive others if you don’t forgive yourself. Why do I have to forgive myself first? I didn’t do anything wrong? Well the word ‘wrong’ in this question suggests there is right or wrong, good or bad, negative and positive. Each are sides of a coin and there is always a neutral zone. I know it’s very difficult for all of you to understand that everything in life is meant to be. That everyone has fear, anger, trauma, grieve, loss, anxiety because what happend and what is happening in their life. Can you really say someone is bad or wrong if they don’t know any better? If they are for example educated or brought up with certain beliefs which come from others like parents or teachers who deal with fear and all the above. You have to understand and believe that everyone including yourself is doing the best they can or is possible.
That mistakes happen, that their are faults being made but that you can learn from them and do better. Answering hate with hate doesn’t work. It poisens your soul. It makes you detach from Love. Love yourself, Forgive yourself. What people do to you is not about you, it’s about them. They are not able to handle what’s happening in their lives. You are not a victim, they are. Why kick someone who has no Love for themselves who live a life full of fear and hate? They all feel terrible because deep down inside they grave one thing and that’s Love. Hate, Fear and Anger can only be answered with Love. Out of Love for yourself you have to forgive them and set yourself free. Your Forgiveness shows these people there is Love. There is Hope. If you truly Love yourself everything else will fall away. In the end there is only Love because you are all Love. Think of what you needed the most in your darkest hours? Is that Hate or Love? All people who live in their own living hell need Light and Love. Be an example and always chose Love. Always.

Bill Manahan, MD is Assistant Professor Emeritus with the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He is Past-President of the American Holistic Medical Association and author of the book, Eat for Health. He founded The Wellness Center of Minnesota in 1982, one of the first physician-led integrative medicine centers in the country. In1994, Bill co-founded Open Door Health Center in Mankato, MN, a clinic for the underserved and uninsured. The clinic is presently serving over 5,000 people each year with over 15,000 yearly visits. 🌱⠀⠀

❌Day 2 Elimination diet. Felt like 💩 all day today and honestly only dragged myself to the gym to support @nicklaslyon. I was telling myself that it would be totally ok if I just ended up at least doing some accessory work, but I forced myself to get under the bar and I ended up having one of the best squat days I had in months!🤷🏻‍♀️❓🤷🏻‍♀️⁉️ Something just clicked in my head with my technique - the way I was engaging my back and pushing with my legs. I think I actually used my quads! Who knows where the heck that came from, but I’ll take it. I’m blaming it on all the fruits and vegetables I had today.🥦🥕🍍🍌🥒My brain dun worked good.🤪🏋🏽‍♀️
