Yellow Pitcher Plant
Another carnivore nanotube to NC with a y’all beautiful yellow trumpet. Found in sandy bogs, wet seeps, and savannas of the coastal plain region from southeastern Virginia to Florida and west to Alabama. The trumpet is a modified leaf. It’s color attracts insects who fall victim to a secretion that paralyzes them. The insects fall down the walls of the slippery trumpet and, unable to crawl back out, are digested by the juices at the bottom of the trumpet. The nutrients are then absorbed by the plant. Neat stuff!
