#portraitofanimanginaryfriend is exactly what it seems: A visual collection of all the freaks and weirdos that stroll across my mind. It’s getting crowded up there and putting them on paper is the only way to clear up some head space. ___
I’ve never called myself an artist despite my classy use of the hashtag. I’ve always just drawn because it gets me genuinely stoked. Now its become my portal into an altered reality where anything goes and nothing really matters. ___
For years I’ve been putting pen to paper trying to figure out how to make nothing into something. After a few acid-fuelled voyages into the deepest reaches of inner space I was shown I was going about it all wrong. Instead of trying to turn nothing into something I finally saw the value of nothing. Lines lost their job of forming objects and found a career in filling space. They creep across the canvas with a mind of their own, drawn with purpose and direction but free from form. The meditative benefits of this process are immeasurable. I have found far too much happiness in this endeavour of line exploration. Buy a piece of my mind. Put it on your wall. Look at it from time to time. And remember, this strange trip we've all found ourselves on is as much about the process as it is about the final product.
Start digging those quarters outta the couch... The good people over at @blackmedicinetattoo are showing and selling work from local artist types. I’ve secured some wall space from Nov.30 to Dec.17 to put some work on display. If you’re hanging out making good body decorating decisions make another good decision and get something for your wall. Very grateful to these pals. Love you, Kane ___
