They say if you pay close enough attention, everything is your teacher. And over the years, time in the garden and working with plants has become one of my favored teachers, both in learning the ways of seeds, plants, and mother earth, and but also with the knowledge that the relationship I hold with those seeds and plants and mama earth, is a reflection of the relationship with my self and the world around me. So today I sat in the remnants of the garden, hoping for some plant magic and wisdom, picking the remaining frijoles chivitas that look like little brown cows, and serrano chiles, and thought about how hard depression and dormancy hits during Fall and Winter and how that reflected in the garden. That most of the plants time had passed, and despite me having abandoned the garden for seasonal depression, I was still able to take something away from that, with these little resilient seeds. And from these little seeds, i draw hope, that we can plant in another season.
