❗️5 Fun Facts to Ease Your Mind About Stuffing Your Face on Thanksgiving Day❗️

1️⃣ Overeating one day will not cause you to gain fat. It takes several days/weeks to gain actual body fat.
.
2️⃣ Carbs = glucose. Glucose is stored in your body as glycogen. One gram of glycogen holds 3-4g of water. This means you could hypothetically “gain” 3-4 lbs after #Thanksgiving, but it’s mostly water weight and waste (gross!)
.
3️⃣ Protein helps suppress appetite and boost thermogenesis (energy burned through heat). So load up on protein first before indulging in the potatoes and pie.
.
4️⃣ If you don’t want to stall ANY progress in your health journey, consider skipping breakfast and eat a small lunch consisting of protein and greens.
.
5️⃣ Go for a long run or perform an intense workout on Thanksgiving morning to burn your stored glycogen (carbs). That way, you start your day in a caloric deficit and have some wiggle room for all the food later.

I've been doing a lot of cardio lately! Not running, just speed walking on high incline. I find it weirdly therapeutic 🙂

It's almost like my personal time to respond to emails or texts (sometimes I'm awful at getting back to texts on time), and just get in the zone. Since I'm walking and not running, I can actually focus and use my phone.

It also makes the time ZIP by 😳 Seriously. I know that might sound cliche, but I was responding to emails while on the treadmill yesterday, and I looked up and 23 minutes had just flown by 🙌🏼 It was pretty awesome!

Anyway.. here are 3 tips on cardio for you guys:

1️⃣: ANY kind of movement is good ➡️ Now a lot of weight loss theories might go against this an say that you have to do cardio for a certain length of time, but that's because the mindset is off. The purpose of cardioVASCULAR exercise is to strengthen your heart ❤️ If you think about it this way, and at least incorporate speed walking, or any kind movement into your day, your mind will be in the right place 🙏 💜

2️⃣: Don't only do cardio ➡️ Sometimes our minds trick us into this thought that the hardest / most dreaded things are the most effective - not true! ❌ Cardio alone won't get you a lean toned body. Definitely incorporate pilates, weight training, or something similar just as much if not more than cardio

3️⃣: Have a light snack before cardio ➡️ A lot of people think that fasting cardio is more effective 🙅🏻 i have not found this to be effective, and if anything, it makes me lethargic while I'm trying to workout! My personal opinion aside, studies show 📖 —> that you burn fat regardless of whether you've eaten or not before you workout🍌 So, don't torture yourself :)

😕How do you overcome self doubt?? Have you ever doubted yourself?

🦄A bird sitting on a tree branch is never afraid of the branch breaking, because the bird's trust is not in the branch but it's own ability to fly.

🐍Self doubt is a big issue for a lot of people. Eliminating it isn't easy but here are some ways I've found that work.
*
✔️Stop that doubtful voice in your head as soon as it starts to speak up by Disrupting negative thought patterns instantly.
*
✔️Notice how far you've come. A little progress is still progress.
*
✔️See any set backs as temporary.
*
✔️Forget what other will think. Most people have to much stuff going and are focused on themselves so don't worry about what other think of you.
*
✔️Sharpen your skills. Once you are competent you will become confident.
*

Stiff Leg Kettlebell Deadlift 🍑

Deadlifts are the ultimate exercise to shape up your lower body and tone your booty and give you all curves 💁🏽😻🙌🏽 But if you're just starting out, remember you don't HAVE to use the barbell! I know it can seem scary at first to pick up that damn thing, so know that there are options

A kettlebell or dumbbell will do the trick -- just make sure it's heavy enough to where you actually feel the 🔥 couple things to remember:
1️⃣ Keep your back straight no matter what; hunching over can wreak havoc on your lumbar
2️⃣ Drive through your heels
3️⃣ Squeeze your butt at the top

Try 4 sets of 10-12 reps. And then you can work your way up to heavier weight and fewer reps. I'm working mostly right now on my sumo deadlift but I still throw in these stiff leg kettlebell deadlifts at the end of a lower body session if I want to squeeze in an extra burn. @organic_muscle pre-workout is no joke. I was skeptical about it being all plant based and was not sure if it was really going to work for me. I was completely wrong. The pump, energy, and focus was amazing, some of the best workouts I've ever had while using this. Mixes great and the taste is on point with passionfruit and guava. I'm slowly starting to convert over to more of a plant based diet and Organic Muscle is helping me out big time with their plant based pre-workout and protein.

Dinner and dessert!

Wholesome grains pot, with fried asparagus.

And coconut icecream, with spiced clementine whisky sour, which is incredibly tasty, the sharp citrus kick of the sour works really well with the coconut... I also had a large glass with ice, but it is too cold and dark to photograph it well tonight.

The mixture of spirits and icecream has got me very excited for my upcoming "Golden Baskets" and I will be making a batch of Creme Brûlée jelly tomorrow as one of the two main fillings 😄

◼️Single arm chest flys (drop weight)
◼️ Lateral delt raises - I love these, they've been a staple in my back workouts lately
Set #2
◼️Dumbell lateral raises (drop set) - 5 reps @15lbs, 8 reps @10lbs, 10 reps @5lb (use the incline bench to isolate the lats and delts)
◼️ Incline bench pushups
Set #3
◼️Kneeling overhead rope pulls (bring it behind your head, focus on pulling with your back muscles)
◼️ Rope pulls (try and keep your elbows up, pulling and squeezing with your delts and shoulders)
◼️ Squat rope pulls (through this is for the glutes, but still keep the back tense and straight)
