#RepostSave @dr.joelseedman_ahp with @repostsaveapp ・・・ I have to admit when I first saw the frog fit device I was a bit skeptical as I tend to be a bit leery of any new fitness gadgets.  However, I was pleasantly surprised with the Frog Fit (check out @chipfrogfit for more) as it’s quite versatile and can be used to target literally every muscle in your body.  While it’s not something I would use to replace traditional movements, it is a cool piece to incorporate as a unique core movement, full body finisher, or accessary exercise.
Here I have bodybuilder @benlaitheasianguy performing a biomechanical drop set as he focuses the first half of the set on upper body and core with a vertical pressing motion (think of this as combination plank and overhead press) then moves to a more full body movement.  There are literally hundreds of exercises than can be performed on this device as it’s incredibly versatile and can also be adjusted with various tensions and intensities to match any fitness level.  Fortunately it also comes with a detailed book and exercise library of all possible movements you can perform with it.  Just be cautious not to overextend in the stretched position as this could place excessive tension on the low back.

One thing I’m asked about, tasked with and just thinking about frequently is the transition zone from rehab to training. As both a #physicaltherapist and a #strengthandconditioningcoach I am in many ways optimally qualified to figure out what to do in this gray area.

Right now I am applying that knowledge base to my own recovery process. It’s not perfect, far from it. Can’t be too aggressive with workouts or the risk of a flare up or period of increased aggravation goes up. Can’t be too passive or the areas that need to build strength or mobility don’t get the attention needed to optimize progress.

So here is an example, from this morning, of how I am attempting to blend #rehab exercises into #workouts to maintain some element of performance and definitely help keep me sane.

I’m blending rehab exercises (primarily core work - the KB taps in plank position, #plank rotations, and kneeling mace halos) into a circuit that also addresses some light lower body strengthening (#kettlebell squats) and upper body strength without loading my spine (chin ups). This was an AMRAP for 25min so it also got my heart rate up and helped to burn some calories both during and after the workout.
