The World's 6th busiest airport is named after one of the famous pilot of the WWII US Navy, Edward o'Hare. It is a major Hub for United and American airlines, having carried respectively 49% and 39% of passengers of the airport. Unfortunately it is famous for its delays (1/6 of delayed american flights are from/to Chicago). It is the fourth american airport in terms of international traffic, after New York, Los Angeles and Miami.
➡ The airport has been opened since 1942
➡ There are 2 sets of 2 parallel runways (with a further two now closed) and the airport features the following buildings:
➡ Terminal 1 exclusively for United airlines and Star Alliance members on concourse B and its satellite concource C
➡ Terminal 2 used by Delta, Air Canada and United airlines too, the terminal is also split into two concourses E and F.
➡ Terminal 3 used by American Airlines and One World members, plus some low-cost carrieres. The terminal is split into four concourses: G, H, K and L.
➡ Terminal 5 used by all other airlines, mainly long haul flights, all on one concourse: M. Despite its size, Chicago airport has only one gate able to accommodate the A380, gate M11.
