PUMPKIN PIZZA PIE! 🎃🍕
File this under "Don't Knock It 'Til You Try It." This is a recipe I've been wanting to make for a while. I love pumpkin 💁🏼 I love pizza even more 🍕 So, I went on a mission to combine the two. After studying many recipes, I came up with this.
The crust is plain old Publix dough you can find in the bakery. The sauce is pumpkin purée, butter, goat cheese, milk, garlic, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and ground cloves. I topped the sauce with caramelized sweet onions. I grated fresh Gouda and Parmigiano-Reggiano on top. I sprinkled the crust with the pumpkin spices I used in the sauce. In the last few minutes of baking, I topped the pizza with sage leaves I'd previously fried in olive oil.
Final verdict: it definitely tastes like fall! 🍁I'd love to do something more to add kick to the sauce. Perhaps some crushed red pepper would do the job.
