Contrary to popular belief, even our glossy, picture perfect Ojai has a homeless population, multiple food pantries, and a dynamic community assistance program that Help of Ojai offers anyone in our community, no questions asked. You know we're all about that unconditional ✨ love. Our HG-grown Valencias joined today's food offerings of organic eggs, other local fruits (Pixies donated by Jim Churchill), and baskets full of wholesome, delicious Nakd bars. (As well as the usual piles of off casts from local super markets.) The cheerful woman in the next room volunteers her time working to connect individuals with groceries, housing, and employment opportunities. ✨ Meanwhile elsewhere, Lakshmi is doing her typical weekly volunteer job of spending the day with local elders with Alzheimer's. She's not related to any of them, but just felt called to show up, serve, and love. She's been doing this for months, maybe a year now, every Wednesday. ⭐️ HG's housekeeper Diana spent her disposable income on bringing clothing and toys to the poorest kids in her native region of Mexico. ❤️ I am helping organize a book club. 📘 John spends free time re-homing shelter dogs. 🐾 Stories of such love, service, and compassion are endless. They're not rare. I don't share these anecdotes to receive praise and validation. We're all that awesome. Each of us is capable of offering something to create a different reality from what the news wants to portray. Where you see darkness, shine light. On our own, we can't solve all the world's problems, but we can each do ONE THING to make today more beautiful than yesterday, to bridge the gap between the world we currently see and the world we want to see. ❤️✊🏾 What's your current "one thing"?
