5 FILMS That Define My Taste in Movies
(in no particular order)
1 - AMERICAN PSYCHO (2000)
Nothing says "it& #39;s actually frightening that you find this funny, and I think that you need serious help" more than a blood-covered Christian Bale running around an apartment complex naked with a chainsaw. This film is dark comedy at its finest, and it has definitely pitched in to forming my extremely messed up sense of humour that even I frequently question whether it's healthy or not. Needless to say, I need to return some videotapes.
2 - EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (1990)
This is horror meets coming of age. The outcome? Tim Burton gold that I loved every second of. There's something about taking a movie that could easily become a terrifying horror slasher flick (a crazy unfinished science experiment with sharp knives as fingers gets skittish and ends up taking out his anger on the people of an innocent suburban subdivision) and transforming it into a unique, heartwarming yet heartbreaking romantic masterwork that to this day gives me chills, and is a film I always come back to if I need to remind myself what makes me a movie enthusiast. ---
3 - THE REVENANT (2015)
I love disturbing, haunting, and realistic grit in a film, and the Revenant is the perfect example of having a movie feel so REAL.
4 - 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968)
My favourite genre of all time is science fiction. INTELLIGENT science fiction, to be exact. And 2001: A Space Odyssey is the one that launched an entire masterclass of sci-fi. Actually take a second to think about this movie. There are so many beautiful pieces of visual poetry that nobody understands fully (admit it), but we still think about and dig deep for meanings almost 50 years later, and we get different interpretations each time. Every viewing is different and special, each time you revisit it.
5 - TOY STORY (1995)
This is the movie that I know every film aficionado has deep inside. A movie that triggers inner child in you, and makes you want to be young again. This movie defines my thirst for wild imagination and wonder. This movie makes me who I am as a movie fan, and always will be my main inspiration, no matter what happens.
