I'm liking myself at the moment. I feel comfortable with the person I am becoming. For 17 years, I have used body modification as a way to understand myself, and it is incredibly important to me. I began at a time when tattoos were not popular, and piercing was regarded as disgusting and vile. There is barely any piercing I haven't had performed on me (besides genital... Not really into that sort of thing) but it was less for the shock value as People viewed it, but as a test to see what my body could do, and how patient I could be.
It has also taught me that fashion is fickle. The same people who hated tattoos, and hated piercings, were the ones getting them done, and destroying their poor bodies just to do it as quickly as they could by any means, and as cheaply as possible.
I am passionate about body modification. I adore it, I always have, it is the biggest part of me, and not only do I cherish it, I respect it. I respect how far we have come, and how much more accepted this sort of self expression has come. I am proud of my sisters in the world for standing up and getting their tattoos and their piercings, and telling the world to fuck off while they adorn themselves proudly, after year of being told that it "isn't ladylike." Fuck that.
Our adornments are for ourselves and only ourselves, wear them with pride!
