These watercolor glass beads always bring to mind the quote about drinking in the wild air. Isn't it funny how something can trigger a thought or memory even though the two seem entirely unrelated? My brain must be wired different, or it's all the music I listen to when I'm in my studio.
I do remember the first time I created a design with these and I had the Supremes in my head and I was jamming. I was singing along, letting the girl power get me in the right groove, and I kept coming back to these beads. I had grabbed them some weeks before and wasn't exactly sure how they were going to get paired, but just knew that they had to be in my collection. It was one of those moments where I knew the design would come.
I do a bit of my bead shopping like this, though not as much as I used to. Now, seeing the vibrant and lush shade of pink always makes me smile, though now for a different reason. Pink is a tricky color, for the emotions that it evokes from different people. I once thought of it as a "girly" color and am a much bigger fan of blue personally.
Now pink is a rallying color for breast cancer research and support, and being a cancer survivor myself, I get behind all things to do with cancer research and awareness.
I donate a percentage of the profits from all things pink in my shop to #StandUpToCancer and in October, I double that percentage, in honor of breast cancer awareness month.
