Our talented grandson (the dude with the sunglasses on) made an anti drug poster and entered a contest and was chosen top ten out of hundreds. Had lunch with the County Attorney and will possibly have his poster published 🕺🏻😁 way to go! #pinalcounty#grandkidsarethebest#azkids
There's a new sheriff in town!!! I think it's safe to say that we have won the election! I'm so proud of my dad, I can't even begin to describe how happy we are as a family to have finally completed such a trying and rigorous campaign. Now the real work begins. He put in so many hard months for this, and did it solely out of the love for our county and more importantly for our country as a whole. I can't wait to see him in action, protecting and serving the people of Pinal County and making differences to promote positive changes all around. Thank you millions for the support that everyone has given us. The prayers, donations, volunteering, and best wishes from our family, friends, and strangers is what made this all possible! #lambforsheriff#pinalcounty
Hiking the Flatiron was one of the hardest things I’ve done: gaining over 2,600 feet of elevation in 3 miles and barely 2 1/2 hours, most of it scrambling over boulders and part of it overcoming a 10-foot wall of rock.
The Flatiron was also the most satisfying hike I’ve done since moving to Phoenix. No, it didn’t have dizzying rock formations like The Wave or well-preserved Ancestral Puebloan ruins like Keet Seel. But there’s nothing quite like the feeling of summiting a scary mountain peak that looms out in the distance, the tallest peak visible from your office window.
I’m not too keen on dashing right back up to the top of the Flatiron, but I feel a lot more confident about my abilities now that I’ve made it up a mountain that’s given me the heebie-jeebies for the past year. 👣
Sunrise at the historic High Jinks Ranch. The ranch is perched on the side of the Catalinas on the Arizona Trail near Oracle and is currently for sale. It was originally Buffalo Bill Cody's mining claim and has a colorful history. I cherish the time I've spent at this very special place. Wish I had a bunch of extra money sitting around!
The summit of the Flatiron, at 4,861 feet above sea level and 2,625 feet above the desert floor, is so high up that the whole ecosystem shifts from saguaro cactus, brittlebush, and palo verde trees to agave, yucca, and prickly pear. 🌵
