Rommel is one of our clients who has been coming for 30 minute private sessions to assist with spinal injury rehabilitation. In a short time he has experienced some powerful results including a reduction in pain, improvement in posture, he can now kneel as a result of reduced hip pain as well as being able to lay on his back (feet flat). These might sound like small achievements but for clients suffering extreme pain and reduced movements his progress just goes to show the ultimate power of Pilates 🙌

For the remainder of December, I’ll be sharing #naughtyornice exercises (preferably with an improved set design from what you see here 😆) 🎅
Here’s a little sequence I’ve been playing with to fire up the shoulder stabilizers lately.

Pushing out on the band, while externally rotating the upper arm bones helps connect into those weak spots so many of us have that causes shoulder discomfort/stiffness and postural issues, while the roller provides feedback on where the shoulders are in space, while creating instability to help connect to the deep core stabilizers.

Lifting a leg just makes the whole thing more...fun 😏

That being said, if you really want to use your core and arms in a functional way, I’d suggest following up this work with standing exercises (think global movements like overhead pressing, rows, squating, ect). However, the roller and band work is a lovely place to refine movement patterns and say hello to the muscles that might be “missed” during bigger exercises.

Rachel hails from Ireland and has been a primary school teacher for the past 12 years. She really enjoys keeping fit. She has a keen interest in the health and fitness industry and its benefit on both the mind and body.
After a lifetime of sports & fitness (soccer, tennis, competitive dressage & show jumping, marathons, crossfit, and fun runs), Rachel felt she needed some balance and restorative care for her body. She honestly believes that balance is the key. She practices what she preaches, with Pilates 3 times a week , HIT and weight style training 2-3 times a week, as well as walking and short runs. Since balancing her fitness routine, her body is stronger and healthier, both mentally and physically.
Rachel likes to incorporate her fitness experience into her classes and caters for all levels! She strongly believes that Pilates is for everyone, whether you play sport, attend the gym, or would like get back into shape. It's for all ages and together with it's breathing principal, it has great holistic and therapeutic benefits!
Rachel is currently pregnant and experienced first hand the positive impact Pilates has had on her body! She feels strong and energised during her pregnancy and knows post pregnancy that she will be too! Baby Diver is due Christmas 2017.
