Piggies having fun in the water!
Did you know that pigs are recognized as the fourth most intelligent animals on Earth? Newborn piglets learn their mother's voices by the time they are just two weeks old, and sows are known to "sing" to their young the through gentle and rhythmic grunts while nursing. They are actually fairly clean animals, and wallow in mud to cool themselves because they cannot sweat. Domestic pigs have at least twenty recognized vocalizations and are constantly vocally communicating Pigs love to snuggle, and prefer sleeping snout to snout. Just like many other animals, they are capable of living rich emotional and social lives.
Pigs are amazing animals who are often underestimated as "dirty", "lazy", or "aggressive" animals. Anyone who has worked around pigs in a sanctuary setting knows this couldn't be further than the truth!
