I had a blast fundraising today for the #LeighBurseyCampaign at my #PieInTheFace #Barbecue fundraiser. Not only did I get to have some worthwhile discussions with passers by and area residents, but I got to exchange some laughter in between ideas, and thoroughly enjoyed being the pit of the joke.
You see, in politics people like to take a shot at you, and I think it's important to have fun and not always take yourself too seriously. Today, I got to celebrate a hot and busy campaign by taking a break and laughing with some friends, but the opportunity was also open to the naysayers and those who might wish to give me what they feel I might have had coming to me to actually take a shot at me. And that's what makes my job so fun sometimes.
It was great to reconnect with former @cpc_hq #FederalCandidate for @kingston_on, as #AndyBrooke stopped by to lend his support along with his charming daughters. There was a whole bunch of others, but my favourite was an adorable three year old who hesitated about pieing me, either because she was too polite or maybe because she'd rather eat the whipped cream...maybe a mix of both.
All in all, this was a blast of an event to take part in, and I'm grateful to all who stopped by. Special thanks to @krystal.elizabethg who (after an already stressful and exhausting week), not only walked to get extra propane when I couldn't leave, but even chased a pie plate across the parking lot much to the enjoyment of onlookers.
The fine folks at #SecondTimeAround offered the space to me free of charge, and their staff were incredibly accommodating. Stop by and check out their store when you get a chance. Thanks again @martinnoegermany.
