Taking a bath turned into such an overhyped form of self care, but it really does have a lot of great benefits. A one hour bath can reduce your blood pressure, help you fall asleep faster, improve your mood, and help clear up your skin! Do you feel guilty leaving your kids for date night? We all know kids thrive when their parents thrive. Not to mention, one day your kids will be gone and you will only have each other. So, why then do we allow ourselves to feel guilty?

I am the first to admit that date nights can easily go by the wayside due to finances, time, babysitting etc. We are in the process of paying off debt but we do our best to make it a priority to spend intentional time together once per week even if that means a in home movie night after the kids go to bed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I noticed that lately I’ve been eating out a lot and calling it self care, when really I’m just being lazy about cooking.... which can quickly become an unhealthy and expensive habit! So today I went grocery shopping and spent ~1hr prepping these goodies so that I can throw them together in different combinations for my meals this week. THIS is self care because I’m being organized, saving time, and eating healthy! #psychologicalselfcare #physicalselfcare

This probably looks confusing, but during the month of October I used a bullet journal to track some of my self care habits. The main thing I learned is that I’m not drinking enough water or getting enough sleep. I literally met my water goal 0 times and I only got 8 hours of sleep 8 times! This week I’m going to focus on those two things to see if I can make improvements! 😴💧 #physicalselfcare

Surround yourself with positive/supportive people!!! When I first got sober, it ended up being easier than I thought it would be to break the news and set boundaries with my drinking friends. They saw firsthand what a drunk mess I always was and so they understood that sobriety was in my best interest. This past weekend I visited friends in NC. These were my friends from work, and they never really saw me on my worst behavior. During the trip we spent a good amount of time at bars, and for the first time I felt truly self conscious/uncomfortable about my sobriety. Why can’t I just drink responsibly/casually like my cool adult work friends!?? But I stuck with it and still had a really good time, and when I got back to OH my dear friend sent me this. My heart is so full!!! And today I’m 4 months sober! Happy November!! ❤️ #emotionalselfcare

The weather in Cleveland has been gloomy but there is still plenty of fall beauty to appreciate! Today I walked around campus to look at the trees and then decided to walk all the way home instead of catching the bus. I even took a stroll through @lakeviewcemetery since it’s on the way. It was the perfect spooky Halloween activity!! And I got some much needed physical activity too! 🎃 #physicalselfcare
