This week’s #whyiride is very inspirational. Check out Jim’s story! “In 2006 I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The course of that treatment resulted in my 6 foot 1 frame wasting down to a surgery scarred 86 pounds. When my body eventually recovered and returned to its new normal, I had a renewed appreciation for what I had. No longer did the imperfections seem so awful- the marks of the battle told my story and how resilient my body had been. I had a new outlook on life, I was going to appreciate what time i have on this earth and live as fully as I could. I vowed to say "yes" to what life offered. The first out of my character adventure that came my way was the Philly Naked Bike ride. Could I be so comfortable in my new skin that I could bare it to the world in such a public fashion? What would people think? What would my family think? I considered that in the darkest of times during my treatment, I rarely regretted things I had done - but had so often regretted the things I had not. I took the leap and said "yes". That first ride was a momentus experience. Not only was it the thrill of living, I was finally letting my true self free. After years in this earth trying to fit a role, to be what I thought I should be, I was finally being "me". Do your true self a favor- let it out once in a while. Just say "yes"!” . . We want to do more of these.
