Now you see, now you don’t lol corny I know but it’s really cool when you’re not expecting an intermediate to be fluorescent 😍 it’s gonna be a good day

It wasn't a smooth journey, it required dedication, commitment and determination. My goal was to create a new department , a new path less followed by medical doctors. Stepping into the research world was tougher than attaining my medical degree (I swear). It's a whole different world and it never ends! I started my journey after my marriage. There came three children at the end of 6years journey. Started off with my masters, I was then offered to convert to PhD.I had no official confinement leave, I didn't take breaks, I was also juggling managing Harith Iskander Productions. I refused to take a loan, but I worked hard to finance myself through my whole PhD journey and NO I didn't expect 'pocket money' from my hubby (though he insisted!).For me,my PhD journey was about creating relationships, the people that helped me along the way made it easier- from the security guards at PPUKM- they help get me parking spots esp during my pregnancy, the cleaners, the nurses,my precious team mates, suppliers, and of course my supervisors!! Hubby @harithiskander @stephaniekuan
@yunnieee @antonlim01 @foofoo328 ,my parents for putting up with me.
I'm a working mother. Today, its beautiful to have all three doctoral kids in my arms
..sorry 4! And it is possible to have it ALL - with proper scheduling, disipline and always focus on your strength and NOT your weakness.
My parents have always taught me to be independent, I wasn't given a silverspoon, instead they encouraged me to earn my living. My new chapter as an Entrepreneur has just begun. If I can do it, anyone else can! Stop pleasing people. It's your life, dare to be different, do whatever it takes to achieve your goals. 😀 #mummyof3 #phdlife #phdmummy

Sorry it's been even more latergrams than usual on here lately, friends. I've been a little bit overworked and uninspired--I've taken to referring to fourth year of grad school as The Pit, because it seems to be the beginning of the emotional bottoming out of the PhD process, which does not improve until graduation is in sight (before you ask, it is super not in sight right now and won't be for a few years). Grad school is hard. Uncertainty is hard. I'm taking most of this weekend off in an effort to #selfcare, and I feel so guilty about it, and that's hard too. Anyway, all that to say: here's a picture of everyone's favorite corner room in London. 💡🍽️☕ #prettycitylondon #townhallhotel #phdlife

It has been said that storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to put ideas into the world and that stories themselves are a communal currency of humanity....

I'm thankful that I get the opportunity to participate in some amazing public engagement and science communication events. Last week as part of Science Literacy Week I chatted about my #fieldworkfail moments and led a bat walk as part of #LittleBioBlitz. By far though my favourite event was getting to kick off #Canada's first ever @StoryCollider event. The Story Collider is a series of shows (and kickass podcast) that looks to share the stories of people in science. The stories aren't focused on methods or results, statistics or study organisms, but on how science impacts and shapes lives - from the hilarious, to truly uplifting, to the very heavy. I choose to share a story about my most outrageous night in the field and how its' ridiculousness helped to keep me going during even the most difficult times of my two year field project. From almost dying, to entertaining 12 drunk teenagers and getting caught by the cops with 25 bats down my shirt - the night was almost too ridiculous to be true. It was so amazing to hear the audience laughing along with me as I recounted the night and it was even better to hear their positive thoughts and feedback afterwards. I've had a lot of people who couldn't make it to the event ask if there's audio floating around anywhere...and there just may be if the folks at Story Collider decide to share my story as part of their podcast. Fingers crossed, but in the meantime check out some of the other amazing stories they have posted.

This is getting submitted today.

The sea bed has hidden secrets ~ the evaporitic rocks of gypsum have been compressed and deformed to move up from their original, horizontal, position. Walking along the beach you can see it through the pebbles and sand the patterns are stunning. These rocks are 330million years old and have managed to survive the winter storms, however this year going back I noticed a lot of erosion had taken place, removing a lot of the gypsum rocks.
