I want to start a 'real talk' series of posts. A candid and unapologetic conversation about what it's like to own rental properties. I've already touched on things like this social media popularity contest - which apparently struck a chord with many of you. I think I'll call this #TrottTalk.
Let's talk about dogs and why rentals do not allow them. We are dog people. We think dogs are a part of the family and should be allowed to go on vacation with you. Every time I go to book some place awesome, they do not allow dogs. This is something we don't understand. We have a nice cottage with nice things in it. We allow dogs. Nothing has gotten wrecked by a dog in 3 years of renting. Fact; kids ages 2-12 wreck more of your stuff than dogs ever will. But you're a jerk if you don't allow kids? If any of our renters with kids past or future is reading this, don't sweat it. You and your kids are great. I'm just hung up on the dog thing. Comment below if you are more apt to book one Airbnb over another if they allow dogs.
