Afternoon baking with my little guy, who has been asking to make cookies for weeks.
I used to not bake, because baking always meant binging and I thought if I could eliminate the temptation I could eliminate the behavior. So I started telling people I didn't like to bake and I was a terrible baker, but the truth is I really love to bake-especially bread.
I'm in a place now where baking is enjoyable again and not something I'm "afraid" of. And these cookies are the real deal, no silly substitutions to make them "heathy" (although I really wish everyone else in my family liked nuts and seeds and crunchy things in their cookies😩).
I think it's important never to label food "good" or "bad," "clean" or otherwise. It's sets up a negative relationship with foods. Sure there are foods that will make us perform better than others, and sometimes after indulging we begin to crave the kinds of foods that fuel our body well. But when you're craving chocolate chip cookies: have a chocolate chip cookie. Better to satisfy the craving than to create and endless cycle of guilt. #edrecovery #bulimia #freedom #baking #lifeaftereatingdisorders #goodeggs #peteandgerrys #organic #cookies #goodegg
