🏋️‍♂️Despite my many posts about how beneficial weight training for just about everything, I still get questions from people asking if other non weight lifting activities will help them lose weight. Notice in the heading of this infographic Ive written bodyweight, not body fat. There’s a big difference .
.
🚴‍♂️Fact is, when it comes to just losing bodyweight, as long as you’re in a calorie deficit and do some form of exercise (walking, swimming, yoga etc) you will lose actual scale weight over time. This is great, if this is your goal and all you care about is the number on a scale
.
.
💪However, as a coach, I’m more in the business of helping people change their body composition; lose body fat, keep muscle mass and produce lean, toned bodies. That’s the goal of all the people i work with and it’s because of this, I make sure all of my clients are lifting weights a minimum of 3 times a week
.
.
🏋️‍♂️Lifting weights may produce a drop in bodyweight as well, but it will also help you do all those things on the right hand column (and many more), if you stick to it consistently over time, of course. This is why I feel so strongly about everyone doing some form of weight training!

.
👉I get that it’s more to think about; what training program to follow, what exercises to do etc. rather than just going for a walk. That’s why it’s beneficial hiring a coach to help you, as I’ve said many times before

Not everything we do as #personaltrainers is lift weights; we also run/sprint lol. Exercise should be fun. Do what moves you and gets you excited. It doesn’t necessarily have to be going to the gym. Go for a walk. Jog. Ride your bike. Climb something. Do calisthenics in the park or at the beach. Great varied weight shoulder workout today!
This is how I set up my weights. Usually I just line them up and move to them when I need to change the weight. However, I found this set up to be much easier and quicker to change the weights in the middle of a set.

🍔I've spoke a lot recently about calories and how to work out how many you need a day. This is always Step 1. The aim with my online coaching clients is to get them consistently meeting a calorie target day after day. That should be yours too 👍

🍝From then you can start getting a bit funky with how you organize your calories throughout the week 🕺Remember, the idea is to stick to a weekly calorie deficit so you keep losing fat. However, some days you can be flexible and eat more as long as other days you eat less. Get it? 🤔

🏋️‍♀️Take a look at the example in the infographic and you'll see how this person eats more on a training day (and when they go out to socialize) and less on a rest day. Naturally I like for my clients to eat more on a training day, to give them more energy to train and help recover from workouts. This is just one example remember💪

😀Ultimately this person has kept their weekly calories in a deficit, whilst working their nutrition around their lifestyle. That's a win win in my opinion 👏

So this is the beginning of my bulk 😎 this picture was taking in the evening before bed, so yes with a days worth of food in me but also no pump etc.. just a standard picture! Weighing 191lbs 👍🏻

This year I’m going to gradually build my calories up and get them as high as I can like I did last year, but slowly as I don’t want to gain a stupid amount of fat again! .
