Bylanes of Benares: ‘Coming of age’
A young man sits on the doorstep of his house, reading the newspaper, as his mother stands beside him in the doorway with his little sister.
You could see the beginnings of a moustache on his upper lip, and an adult-like seriousness forming in his mannerisms.
I’m not sure what exactly drew me to this scene, but I suspect it was the sense of hopefulness that it possessed. The future seemed to be right around the corner, and as bright as the 9am, Banarasi sun.
