Portrait of Nazila, dressed in a traditional afghani dress. Tehran, Iran. « Ever since I was little I've always wanted to be an actress. From the age of five to 16, I had to work in the streets, selling chewing gum and horoscopes, but I used to pretend I was acting the whole time. Maybe it was a way to escape the pain. Acting can make you feel powerful - you can say whatever you want without censorship, and be whoever you want to be. It makes you feel free. I am proud to have such a difficult past, because it made me a very strong person. Stronger that I would have been otherwise.
My favorite movie, is « Life is beautiful ». I love this film because it shows that in the most adversed situations you can face, you can always manage to find beauty in life. Happiness is all about enjoying life, being satisfied with what you do, and be useful. I only fear to waste time for my future. In ten years I will hopefully see you at the Oscars »
This portrait is part of my ongoing project @1day1will. During the past three years I ask children, teenagers and young adults around the world to dress up in the outfits of who they want to become in the future. #1day1will
