"There are things in that paper that nobody knows but me, or ever will."
For this short story Sunday I'm sharing a story that I read last year, and one that instantly became a favourite. The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman is a creepy little tale but with deeper meaning, with themes such as post natal depression, a controlling husband, feelings of belittlement and dismissal, the other more capable woman, paranoia, abstraction and tons of metaphors. It's so effective. I read this in the Penguin Little Black Classics edition and will be reading the larger Oxford World Classics collection of this authors short stories later in the year. .
