TBT Once upon a time I wanted to be an artist so when I was seventeen I convinced my mom to let me stay in the family cabin for the summer, work in a restaurant and paint in my free time so I could see what an artist's life was like. The cabin was on an island in Northern Michigan with no running water or electricity. I painted this pump on the back porch, our only source of fresh water. My mom loved the watercolor and it still hangs in her home today. My paintings are very different now but I still love being outside.
