Finally got my first decent sized GT on fly! Yeeeeeeaaaaahhhhh Boi. It's been twelve says since I started my hunt. I've had so many missed opportunities and bust offs on the bombies. Every day I run into a couple of these but finally I've managed to get one. The fight was crazy fun! I put the herd on this guy like never before. I barely let him get into my backing. The fish was thrashing around on the reef like crazy and got a couple of bruises on his nose. After a quick shot, he was revived and swam off withing thirty seconds of touching the water again. Damn I love these fish and now I've finally caught one on fly. The dawn patrol paid off with the waterfall producing the goods once again. Thanks to @chadoak101 for lending me his gear. The @Oceansouldiers for having me and @cortlandline for the great quality purpose built GT line. This will forsure be the first of many. Now that I've ticked this off my bucket list I'm on the search for a beeeg fish over thirty kgs! I also saw some massive triggers today, permit and Mauri wrasse all patrolling the edges of the falls! Tomorow I'll return to try catch some.
Caught this nice bluefin Trevally today at the falls. Once again a big GT was trying to eat it while I bought it in. I had a few enquiries from some big Trevally but they either missed my fly or didn't complete the chase. I ran into some giant fish again, easily in the 30kg+ range. I tried getting their attention but I think they had just completed feeding on baitfish because they were coming back down the falls. One massive fish literally belly flopped over the ledge a meter away from me. Totally unfazed by my presence, the sheer size of this fish was enough to give me a a proper fright when I saw it. I'm still on the hunt to catch a big GT on fly before I leave back to the mainland for Christmas holidays. I tied some shweet semper/bait patterns today that got mauled plenty of times. The fish here seem to love black. I'm heading to the falls as soon as the sun rises for a sneaky morning session. Let's see if I can finally land my big Giant Trevally.

Another little bluefin from the sand flats caught today. Although these guys don't get as big as the Giant Trevally they go like hell. With bright yellow eyes and beautiful blue spots and fins they're definitely the prettier cousin of the bludgers and bullys of the flats. I've heard they can actually interbreed with the GT In rare cases. I'm hoping to run into one of these halfbloods one day. It's definitely on my bucket list of fish to catch.
