Today is day 5 for #YogisOfAFeather and in my opinion, the hardest damn asana in the entire of the yoga. Ever. Peacock pose 🤮
I had some really good intentions of demoing how to work on this with props but unfortunately I still feel as sick as a dog and even just taking this photo yesterday finished me off 🤒
But non-the-less, I have shown this extended arm version because despite appearances I find this WAY easier than the full expression of the pose. Firstly, lotus legs make the balance much easier as you are compacting your body weight over a smaller area so if lotus is within your capabilities, this will make your task a little more manageable.
Secondly, I feel there are advantageous body proportions for this pose and having a big chest is certainly not one of them. I very much struggle to get my arms underneath my torso due to quite obvious obstructions 😂 so if you’re in my team there, you may also find this extended arm version far more accessible. .
Don’t be hard on yourself today if you can’t find the balance. I can’t do full peacock pose 90% of the time 🙋🏼♀️ It takes a lot of strength that I’ve not tapped into yet. Placing hands on blocks to give yourself more space between your chest and the floor is a great place to start, or resting your feet on blocks to work on the upper body positioning 👍🏼
