Aiming for 40g of protein for breakfast is important to prevent insulin resistance. By adding more protein and fat to a carby breakfast like oatmeal, you’ll slow it’s breakdown in our blood stream. This will make you feel full longer and without a blood sugar crash. .
.
.
The high protein oatmeal has 2 scoops of collagen powder, 1 cup of Ripple pea protein milk, and a handful of almonds! .
.
.
It makes a big difference💕

In pursuit of achieving that 'perfect body' have you ever wondered what the consequences would be?
.
👉Have abs but at what cost?
.
Abs are seen at a low body fat percentage. Another thing to point out, however, is that people distribute fat on their body differently. So for example Person A may be a lower body fat percentage than person B but person B has abs. This is an indication that Person A holds most of their fat on their abdomen. .
🛑Sure having abs may be cool but the cost of achieving them is not too cool or healthy. .
To achieve a low body fat percentage, where abs can be seen, requires calorie restriction. But also depending on where you distribute the most fat the amount you will have to restrict and for how long will be different person to person.
.
BUT in pursuit of a low body fat percentage you are damaging the health of your hormones.
.
A drastic drop in a woman's body fat can cause:
👉Your menstrual cycle to stop, known as secondary amenorrhea.
👉Decrease brain function 👉Fatigue
👉Nutrient deficiencies (a low fat diet is often followed. Vitamins -- A, D, E and K can only be absorbed by your body in the presence of fat.
.
🛑Ask yourself if it is all worth it.
🛑If achieving this is not sustainable think again.
.

repost via @instarepost20 from @pcos_nutrition The Birth Control Pill is frequently recommended by Doctors as the only treatment option for PCOS. But the pill is not the solution to PCOS!
.
Firstly, the Pill does not get to the root cause of PCOS.
The pill stops your endocrine glands from producing its own hormones because you are taking in hormones. And the period you get on the pill is not real, it is a fake and mechanical bleed. .
While taking the pill may be necessary in some cases, you do not want to continue taking it for a prolonged period of time. If you do take it it's important to be making the necessary dietary and lifestyle changes along with taking the pill.

However, there are natural ways to treat PCOS. Through focusing on making dietary changes, exercising regularly, sleeping well, managing your stress, emotions, thoughts and mindset.
.
🛑There is no quick fix. It takes time, you have to be consistent and patient. Balancing your hormones doesn't happen from one day to the next.
.
You have to work on getting to the ROOT CAUSE of PCOS. .
.

Did you know about all these signs of PCOS? A lot of women don't get diagnosed with PCOS because they don't connect the signs and symptoms.

The girl who travelled the world LOOKING for happiness 💔
Vs
The girl who walks the dog FOR her happiness.💖 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓 I have been so lucky to travel all of the world and experience the most amazing adventures, safaris in Serengeti, volunteering in orphanages and schools in Tanzania, from new York to LA and everywhere in between..........and had some amazing moments which I truelly appreciate and will never forget but when I look back now I was always looking for more, More to make me happy.....
💖
When truth be told I was always ready to have a reason, or blame someone else for my moods, my anxiety, my weight..... I was always looking for the latest fad to make me attractive (in my own mind)....I put pressure on myself, I never felt good enough, I never felt enough.....the reality is it didn't matter where I was in the world I took the old blocks, criticisms, comments with me.....so was never truelly happy.
💖
Now.....I work daily on addressing the blocks I have about myself, the negative comments from ex's, the negative thoughts about my health, negativity from just bloody life! And I PRIOROTISE the activities that make me feel good and make me feel happy.
💖
No more looking, no more blaming...... happiness comes from within 💖 -

The majority of women with PCOS can conceive on their own or with the help of fertility treatments. Diet and lifestyle changes are the primary treatment approach for PCOS and following a healthy diet along with regular physical activity or weight loss can improve ovulation.

ABSOLUTE FAVORITE MEAL.
Red Thai Curry with Chicken, loads of veggies and sweet potato Gnocchi.
It's hearty, filling and absolutely delicious.

Here's my recipe... The veggies I used were carrots, cauliflower, cabbage, ridge gourd and beans.
For the gnocchi you cook and mash about 150-200g of sweet potato. Add half an egg to it and then add gram flour. Knead till it forms a dough. It's ok if it's slightly sticky. Make the dough and keep it in the fridge for a while. Then roll out into logs about and inch thick and cut 1/2-1" thick pieces. Cook it in boiling water and add it to the curry.
I made it this way during my pre-whole30 days. On whole30, I simply cook sweet potato to eat along with the curry.

For the curry...
Fry some onions, garlic and ginger in a little oil. Add the red curry paste and fry till it's cooked. Then add the vegetables. Fry for a minute and add the chicken and salt. Add thin coconut milk and let the veggies and chicken cook. Once they are cooked add the cooked gnocchi. Then add thick coconut milk. Keep stirring for about 30 seconds.
I make my own red curry paste. A store bought one works well too. The second picture has all the ingredients I used to make the paste.

So around Thanksgiving I stumbled so I decided to keep going and do week 6 after finishing up week 8. Last week I failed to do week 8!
Today I doubled up so I can finish the program as planned. I'm doing week 6 during Keirra's nap and week 8 after the kids head to bed at night.
I'm determined to finish this program as planned and I'll be damned if I give up on my progress 👊💪 #liift4 #beachbodyondemand #pcosweightloss #pcosfighter #pcos #pcosstrong #pcoslife #momlife #fitmom #fitby40 #determination #keepgoing #falldownandgetbackup #notgivingup #progressnotperfection #mondaymotivation

Chicken stir fry. It has chicken, carrots, broccoli, Napa cabbage, and hemp seeds. I cooked it all in sesame seed oil and Tamari sauce. 🍲🍗🥦🥕🥬

Stop focusing on the symptoms. Every symptom has its root cause.
.
Focusing on treating one symptom of PCOS, like hair loss, acne or weight loss, is not getting to the root cause of PCOS. It is not treating the problem and that is why are not seeing any improvements in your hormones. You need to go deeper than the symptom. .
It was only until I got to the root cause of all of my symptoms was I able to balance my hormones, regain my period, heal my gut, have more energy, manage my anxiety.
.
There is not one type of PCOS and the root cause of PCOS is different for every woman. You, therefore, cannot replicate what someone else did to treat their PCOS.
.
You have to establish what is causing your hormone imbalance. Undertake the necessary tests, e.g. a blood test to assess what levels your hormones are at. Get to the root cause of your PCOS and then work on finding the best treatment approach for you and your PCOS. .
I used to suffer from severe bloating, likely caused by the short time I was on the birth control pill for my PCOS. I tried everything: herbal teas, supplements etc. The bloating was only alleviate for a short period of time. They were not long term solutions, because it wasn't getting to the root cause of the what was causing my bloating. It was until I started making some changes to my diet to help heal my gut increasing the amount of friendly gut bacteria, through including fermented foods and probiotics as well as further managing my stress levels did my bloating disappear. .

So today challenged me in every way possible. We got some 💩 news about a friend last night. Life changing news. That weighed heavily on my ❤️ all day today. More than I even admitted to myself until this point when I realIzed I’ve been on the verge of 😭 all day. But know what? We’re all rallying around them. It’s gonna be a fucking difficult road. A long road. But they have one of the best support systems out there if I must say so myself.
Then work challenged me. I went in with a plan of what I was going to do today. I got absolutely none of that done. ❌. 0️⃣. ↔️. Nada. Zilch. I was helping others prepare for a large meeting Wednesday. A very important meeting.
Got home. Waited what seemed like forever for John to be ready to go to the gym. Then I couldn’t load my 🏋🏽‍♀️ on my 📱. But I said fuckit. I improvised. I knew what weightlifting moves I needed to do. But I made up the HIIT. I picked my least favourite moves and did them (hello 3x🐻s). I picked my favourite core moves and did them. What got me through the workout is the fact our friend can’t tonight. And probably really wants to. So I did this for him. Because I CAN.
This video is far from perfect. My knees are a lot higher than an inch off the ground. But I never used to be able to hold myself in his position yet alone after using 25s for chest presses and 15s for triceps. For 180 reps total. So I’m proud of where I came from. And I see where I can go. If you focus on progress and not a number on the scale, I promise you this will be fun and not work.
Now’s the time to join us! As little as 20 mins of your day. That’s it!!!

S U M M E R ☀️ means swims in the river, sunbathing, fun at the beach, BBQ’s, and road trips!! Can you believe Christmas is in 2 weeks and New Years in 3?! Where the F did this year go? Like, it just feels like it was January 2018 - blinked and now it’s nearly January 2019 😳 I’ve said this every year for past 5 years or so, but I really wanna make 2019 my year and take my physical and mental health seriously. 2018 has been a big wake up call, and I can’t keep putting off losing weight any longer and not looking after myself well. Motivation is what I lack in - but with the support from family, friends and my partner, I should be able to stay on track this time round. No more blaming PCOS for my struggles of losing weight, if other fellow PCOS warriors can lose the weight - so can I! It’s definitely not impossible like I keep telling myself it is. What are your goals for the new year? Are you prepared to kick butt and make 2019 your year? I definitely am!! ESSKEETIT!!! 💪🏽 •

So anxiety isn’t something many people talk about, especially if they suffer from it themselves.🙋‍♀️#Guilty
But the thing is, it comes in all forms, all levels and all triggers.
Mine was full blown 1000% today. And I knew it was coming. Started yesterday actually in anticipation of my pre-op appt this morning. I’ve told you before I’m a big baby and I really am.😢
So my heart raced through my chest, I was shaking, couldn’t catch my breath and as the Doc is terrifying me with the details...I had to lay down. Seriously. I felt like I was going to pass out. And the nausea didn’t help.🥴
My point is, it’s gets the best of us and even though I KNOW I need this and I KNOW it will make everything better....the process still sucks.👎🏻
Just another spin off my post from yesterday about how it’s all Hard...but we CAN do hard. (Even if we (me) cry like a baby the whole way through.) #WeCanDoHardThings 😘
