@Regrann from @nehmat04 - #surnameislame
To all the pseudo-Feminists,the so-called egalitarians,let me tell you,if you put/use a SURNAME with your Name,then you just cant make a point about Gender Equality.Your surname in one or the other way links you to a Male,be it father/husband or whosoever.Patriarchy,so deeply engrained,that you dont realise it and just cant accept the fact that you are silently being a part of it.But,hey if you still choose to identify with whatever surname,just dont show fake feminism,just dont.Its a small but a big thing.And,the powerful women who hold influence over so many people around the world,still identify themselves with a surname,I challenge them to do away with it - @michelleobama @priyankachopra @theresamay @emmawatson @twinklerkhanna @melindafrenchgates @malalafund @manushi_chhillar @nicolekidman and lot lot more.
Tell me how a surname goes well with the idea of equality?!
It does not at all.
In the past,I also put a surname after my name and i feel/accept i was completely,definitely WRONG in doing so.But better late than never.Because now i know how LAME a SURNAME is!

http://e-journal.biologi.lipi.go.id/index.php/treubia/article/view/3414 [[Male ‘Rote Myzomela’ Myzomela irianawidodoae sp. nov., near Bolatena village, Rote Island, #EastNusaTenggara Province, Indonesia, April 2014. photo by Philippe Verbelen ]] ABSTRACT :: The #avifauna of Rote Island in the #LesserSundas is not well studied and generally considered to be similar to that of adjacent #TimorIsland. However, some cases of bird endemism have recently been documented on this island. A population of Myzomela honeyeater is one such example. First observed in October 1990, it has been subsumed with Myzomela #dammermani from #SumbaIsland given its superficially similar appearance. Based on extensive morphological inspection and #bioacoustic analysis, we here describe this population as a new taxon to science. Apart from previously overlooked plumage distinctions, the new taxon bioacoustically differs from M. dammermani in the presence or absence of several unique call types and considerable differences across two parameters in shared call types. Considering the importance of bioacoustics in avian species delimitation, we propose that the new Rote Myzomela be considered a distinct species. Given continued habitat conversion across its small range, we propose the International Union for #Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (#IUCN) threat status #Vulnerable for the species. || #bird #taxonomy #Widodo #patronym #IrianaWidodo #JokoWidodo #RepublicofIndonesia #NusaTenggaraTimur

Abstract :: Primula #zhui a new species of Primula #endemic to the Yunnan Province, China, is described and illustrated. It is morphologically similar to P. #intanoensis from Thailand, and P. #calyptrata from southeast Yunnan, affiliated to Primula sect. Carolinella (Hemsl.) Pax. However, it is easily distinguished from the Thailand species by its longer corolla tube and distylous flowers, and it differs from the Chinese species by its leaf ovate to ovate-elliptic blade and distylous flowers. || #FloraofChina #Primulaceae #CriticallyEndangered #GreaterMekong #patronym #Flowers #flowersofinstagram

Another outtake of this beautiful fish - I've previously shared photos of the same individual "yawning", one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken. Fun etymological fact, did you know that if a species name ended with the -orum suffix, it means that the species was named after two or more people sharing the same name? In case, Pseudanthias bartlettorum was named after Pat and Nate Bartlett. If it was named after either one of them as an individual, it would have been bartletti, not bartlettorum.

Abstract :: The dragonfly genus Acisoma is #revised based on adult male morphology and COI sequence data. Six species are recognised, including the new species Acisoma attenboroughi sp. nov. Diagnoses and a key to males of all species and illustrations of all relevant characters are provided. A. inflatum, A. variegatum and A. trifidum are confined to continental Africa, while A. panorpoides is restricted to #Asia. A. ascalaphoides is known only from threatened littoral forest fragments on the east coast of #Madagascar, while A. attenboroughi is widespread across the island. #365Insects 70: #Buenoa margaritacea Torre-Bueno, 1908

While the species was named by J.R de la Torre-Bueno (of Entomological glossary fame), the genus was actually named for him, by his close friend and frequent co-author, George Kirkaldy a few years prior. And no, the species epithet is not a reference to tequila-based libations, but rather the pearly nature of the species' body.

novataxa.blogspot.com
doi: 10.3897/zookeys.555.6522

Abstract :: A new bufonid #amphibian, belonging to a new #monotypic genus, is described from the #Andaman Islands, in the #BayofBengal, #RepublicofIndia, based on unique external morphological and skeletal characters which are compared with those of known Oriental and other relevant bufonid genera. Blythophryne gen. n. is distinguished from other bufonid genera by its small adult size (mean SVL 24.02 mm), ... expanded discs at digit tips and phytotelmonous #tadpoles that lack oral denticles. The taxonomic and phylogenetic position of the #newtaxon (that we named as Blythophryne #beryet gen. et sp. n.) from the Andaman Islands of India.

#Etymology: The generic name is a #patronym, coined in appreciation of #EdwardBlyth (1810–1873), the first curator of the #AsiaticSociety of Bengal, who initiated herpetological studies in the Andaman and #Nicobar Islands, through his phenomenal, pioneering paper “Notes on the fauna of the #NicobarIslands” (Blyth 1846). Das (1999) remarked, The specific epithet ‘beryet’ (in Great #Andamanese language) refers to ‘small #frog’. We believe that the Great Andamanese knew of the existence of this small arboreal anuran that is here described as new species to science.

Abstract: Two new species of #landdwelling sesarmid crabs of the genus Geosesarma De Man, 1892, are described from central Java, Indonesia. These species have been in the aquarium trade for many years and go by the popular name of “#vampirecrabs”. The two species, here named Geosesarma dennerle and G. hagen, are formally described and compared with their closest congeners in Java, G. noduliferum (De Man, 1892) and G. bicolor Ng & Davie, 1995. The identities of G. noduliferum, the type species of the genus, and G. confertum (Ortmann, 1894) are also clarified.

Morphologically, Kurixalus motokawai sp. nov. is most similar to K. banaensis but they are clearly separated from each other in #mitochondrialDNA sequences. In phylogenetic analysis the new species clustered in the same clade with Kurixalus banaensis and K. #viridescens. However, the new species differs from K. banaensis by having a smaller body size, a higher ratio of forelimb length/SVL in both sexes, a smaller ratio of first toe length/SVL in males, snout tip less markedly pointed, and only weakly developed dermal appendages on the outer edges of fore-and hindlimbs. Kurixalus motokawai sp. nov. also differs from K. viridescens by having a smaller size in females and a brown dorsum with dark markings. || #mtDNA #phylogeny #Taxonomy #GiaLai #KonTum #Asia #Indochina #SoutheastAsia #patronym #Biodiversity
