Let’s talk client expectations, stylist to client communication, realistic goals for the two parties and being a descent human being.
When a client contacts me for platinum, silver, lavender, pastel of any color, I have a very thorough consultation with them where we decide first if their desired color is realistically possible, because sometimes it’s just not due to previous chemical processes, how many sittings it might take, how much those sittings will cost and at home maintenance and products.
As stylists we can only do so much especially with the integrity of our clients hair when it comes to achieving these colors. I am very straight forward and honest with my clients on how high-maintenance these colors are, not to scare them, but to prepare them for the time, cost, and at home care necessary. Most times it takes multiple appointments, 3-5 sometimes to remove old color and go through multiple lifting processes to achieve those extremely light colors. I usually will prefer a low and slow method over putting 30-40 with foils on previously colored hair, you’re asking for a disaster. That brings us to this sweet new client of mine, who has been through hell and back with her hair and her journey to reach lavender!! It’s time for stylists to stop taking advantage of clients trust and money. It’s a shame to hear how she was treated at her appointment and after, her hair severely damaged, extremely splotchy all over, and blue...She already cut off multiple inches and spent a fortune just to sit crying in my chair at our consultation. All I wanted was to fix it for her and she waited for weeks to get in with me and I am so grateful she did and we were able to accomplish this in one sitting. We still have a little ways to go, but wait until you see the journey. *video to follow
