On Tuesday, Minister of Education Dr Nicolette Henry, MP was paid a visit at her Brickdam office by Barbados Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Trade the Honourable Sandra Husbands, MP along with David Comissiong, Ambassador of Barbados to the Caribbean Community and the Associates of Caribbean States and Kay Sealy, Director of Foreign Trade Barbados.
During the meeting, the Ministers discussed possible areas of cooperation that will be mutually beneficial to both parties. Minister Husbands noted that there is a Joint Commission to which both Guyana and Barbados are members.
Minister of Education Dr Henry said it is important that greater emphasis is placed on teacher education to ensure that our children are exposed to the best possible teaching. Additionally, Dr Henry informed the Barbadian delegation that presently Guyana is in the process of reforming its curriculum to cater for modern and futuristic approaches to teaching.
