It doesn't get more Swedish than this!
Yesterday we celebrated Midsummer's Eve. I would say it's the one day when we Swedes go all in on being Swedish: we eat smörgåsbord; have schnaps (read: practice an eight hour minimum intake of alcoholic beverages); raise and dance around the maypole (see video for proof); enjoy folk dancing, wear floral crowns... Personally, I think it's a great tradition for families and small children, whereas for the average Swede between the age of 15 and 30, the tradition of heavy drinking throughout the whole day always seem to trigger dramatic scenes and olympic size hangovers the day after. Nevertheless, I am really into traditions in general and yesterday we went all in Sweden-style and celebrated Midsummer's with my dad in my home town where my first memories of Midsummer was born. It was actually kind of lovely.
After that we went home and had Spanish tapas with friends.
