I wanted to give everyone an update on my health. The doctors have ruled out the flu and my fevers broke after 48 hours of being consistently elevated. I have all of the signs of sepsis and have MRSA growing in my blood cultures and an additional bacteria in my urine. MD Anderson will send me home on IV antibiotics for two weeks after my blood cultures stop growing bacteria. MRSA is a very dangerous and deadly bacteria that takes the lives of many people annually. Additionally, MRSA is highly resistant to multiple antibiotics. This is my third MRSA infection in 11 months and it is also the worst one yet. They had to pull my PICC line and will replace it tomorrow. There is a possibility that the bacteria will go into the heart valves, so they have to do further testing to make sure it’s not growing there. My white blood cells, neutrophils, hemoglobin and platelets are all critically low, so tomorrow I will most likely need platelets, blood and neulasta. My heart rate and temperature are both back in the normal range and we’re hoping to be discharged by the end of this week. I am finally starting to feel like myself again! As always, thank you for all of your love, support and prayers and thank you for following my journey! Please continue to keep me in your prayers! Pray specifically that the bacteria doesn’t colonize in my heart or anywhere else in my body and that the antibiotics do their job! Thank you and God bless you all!
