People always ask me - "What's the best diet?" The Paleo/Caveman diet has gained a lot of popularity in recent years and to be honest, I think it's a good diet overall.
That being said, there is no such thing as a single 'Best Diet' because Nutrition and Diet (they're not the same) are very individual.

The Paleo diet is based on the idea that we should go back to eating the foods that our ancestors ate. This makes sense because many of the health issues we face as a society are lifestyle and diet related. If we compare ourselves to our ancestors from even a 100 years ago, the food we have available is quite different.
Here's an objective look at the Pros on Cons of Paleo. You can use these to determine if this diet is for you or you could take the principles of paleo to formulate the best diet for you.

PROS of PALEO
- It's rich in protein. Protein is probably the most important nutrient and with a paleo diet, you will get plenty of it. Whether your goal is to lose fat or gain muscle, your protein needs will be covered.
- Foods such as fish are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids. In addition to these, you also get a good ratio of saturated and unsaturated fats.
- Low Sugar: Most people can benefit from reducing their sugar intake. Foods that are high in sugar are typically not very nutritious and are also not very filling. Having too much sugar can also cause you to have fluctuations in energy levels.
- Nutrient-Rich: On a Paleo diet, you will be consuming plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
- High-Fiber: Fiber is a type of carbohydrate that has a lot of benefits including, Gut health, stabilizing blood sugar, satiety etc. A large % of the population doesn't get enough fiber throughout the day and for them, paleo may be a good option.
-Satiating: Because Paleo is high in Protein and Fiber, it will help keep you full and prevent you from getting hungry. This is useful if you want to lose weight.

Well hi guys... my band had a big show last night so I dropped off the face of the earth while in preparation this week! But now I'm back in action, and want to show you all a product that is a compete gamechanger when it comes to detox!

PC, short for phosphatidyl choline, is incredibly supportive to liver health. It is a primary component of bile and therefore promotes adequate bile flow (Don't forget that this is where liver stores TOXINS - one of the main causes of liver toxicity is inadequate bile flow!!). after missing national cookie day the other day, i wouldn't be able to live with myself if i missed brownie day too. happy national brownie day, homies! just whipped up this no-bake rose infused brownie and i am in chocolate heaven 🍫🌹 mix:
* 2 scoops chocolate @nuzest clean lean protein
* 1 scoop @furtherfood collagen (myohmaya10 for 10% off)
* 1 1/2 tbs @betteralmomdbutter * 1 tbs @nutiva coconut oil
* 2 tsp @navitasorganics cacao
* 1/4 cup @mountainroseherbs rose infused water & top with:
* @pearlbutter beauty butter * hibiscus powder
* rose petals

Hard boiled egg batch #2 for the week (3 dozen in each batch...feeds 2 adults + 2 kids each week). We like eggs.

Still trying to perfect my hard boiled egg making skills so that they peel perfectly every time.

After boiling the eggs on medium-high heat for 10 minutes, I cover and let sit on hot burner for another 15-20 minutes. Then I transfer the eggs to a bowls of ice water for an additional ~15 minutes. Keeping my fingers crossed the ice bath worked!

still holding onto fall with this brekkie bowl. in the past i believed this to be true: give me sun or give me sadness! •
winter six years ago was the first time i ever experienced a wave of depression. let me tell you, it was SAD (seasonal affective disorder). and so it began in the wintertime, but it didn't end there, and it became chronic. i gathered countless tools to try and combat it, but most things didn't work. all the self work led me to the resounding scientific evidence that depression is in fact an inflammatory and gut based disease. now i don't view depression as a disease or illness entirely on its own. instead, it is a symptom of inflammation and other imbalances in the body, mind and spirit.

this is a big reason i'm so interested in biohacking and nutrition. for me personally, SAD=SAD (standard american diet=seasonal affective disorder). switching to an anti-inflammatory plant-based paleo diet has quite literally changed and saved my life. we are what we eat, therefore what we eat affects how we feel. additionally, how we move affects how we feel. and what we think affects how we feel. we have a choice over all of these things. we create our own reality every single second of every single day. life will throw curve balls, but it's up to you whether you will react and respond from a place of love or a place of negativity and spite.

i no longer let the weather have control over my state of mind. that's not to say i never feel depressed anymore, but now i have better tools and know how to #hackthesadness. i've learned how to tune into my body and know when things are out of balance, so i can address and problem solve. •
don't settle for the idea that chronic depression is a curse or a way of life. it may just require some lifestyle adjustments and regular trips to the farmacy ;) so get happy. there is a solution! it's really up to you to want it. life is dope if you want it to be.

I know national cookie day isn't until Monday, but then I made Paleo Cherry-Chocolate Chunk Cookies, and my life changed forever 😍 I adapted this recipe from a classic Paleo chocolate chip cookie by @texanerin, just added my own flair to it 💃these babies are the perfect texture, and a nice balance between sweet and salty.

6 TBSP coconut oil
6 TBSP almond butter
1/4 cup coconut milk
1 tsp almond extract
1 egg
1 cup almond meal
1/4 cup coconut flour
3/4 cup coconut sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp pink salt
1/3 cup dried cherries (make sure there's no added sugar/oil!)
1/3 cup Paleo friendly chocolate chips .

Set the oven at 350. Whip up the wet ingredients with a mixer, then add dry ingredients. Fold in the dried cherries (you may need to break these up with your hands) and chocolate chips. Place on parchment paper and bake for 18 minutes. .

If you're feelin' sassy, you could mix it up and add whatever sweet/salty combo you prefer - dried cranberries and slivered almonds, white chocolate and macadamia nuts... what are you guys' go-to cookie add ins? Let me know in the comments what combo you go with!

photo really doesn't do this justice, but my recipe testing was a success! i've never made anything like this before, but i totally winged it and was so pleased with the result 💯

paleo / vegan pumpkin "cheesecake" bars 🍰 and i actually wrote down the recipe for ya!


for le crust:
2 cups raw macadamia nuts
1 cup pecans
2 tbs coconut oil
5 dates
1 cup coconut flour
1/4 tsp pink salt •
blend in food processor until slightly wet/desired consistency and press into the bottom of a pan

and le filling:
1 cup pumpkin purée
1 cup plus 2 tbs coconut milk
2 cups raw cashews
4 tbs lemon juice
1/2 tsp lemon zest
2 tbs maple syrup
1 tbs cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1 tbs allspice
1/4 tsp pink salt •
blend in food processor until completely creamy and pour over top the crust. stick in the freezer to set and voila!

Wishing you all a happy, healthy, and blessed Thanksgiving Day! 🍁🍽🦃 Here are some simple #ketoninjatips and tricks to keep you on track today. 💛

1) Start the day off w a fat coffee. Healthy fats will help keep you full and satisfied. I start every morning KETO Kreme and MCT 1:4:3.
2) Have a solid breakfast. Again...healthy fats. A nice omelet w lots of veggies, bacon, sausage. Maybe a shake, smoothie, Acai Bowl w full fat coconut milk, avocado, raw cacao.... 3) Some good choices for pre-meal appetizers can be nuts, cheese, dried meats, olives, etccc... 3) Dinner...Load up on the non starchy veggies first at your meal. Add some turkey and healthy fats. Bring some avocado or some MCT oil to dinner so you can make better choices 🙂

4) Dessert options....nuts, cheese plate, fresh berries w whipped cream, low carb cheesecake.... BONUS PRO-TIP: ✨✨✨
DRINK KETONES. Have 2-3 packets of #willpowder on hand to keep you from going overboard. 30-60m before your meal and again 2 hours after to get your body burning again.
