Dear moms and dads: to the ones who work. To the ones who stay at home. To the ones with multiple children. To the ones struggling to maintain just one. To the ones with immaculately clean and to the ones who can’t find the energy to fold a washcloth. To the parents who sometimes feel too tired to function to the ones who manage to find the strength to do it all every day. To the single parents. To the parents with a spouse in the military and they’re gone sometimes. To the coparents and married parents. To the parents who are biologically and not biologically the parents of their kids.
I respect each and every single one of you. Parenting is HARD. People only want to hear how glamorous it is. But it is hard. But we continue to do it every day because, as hard as it is, it’s equally as rewarding. My son dragging himself across the kitchen floor sobbing because I closed the sunroom door is so outweighed with love when he comes up and says “love you” randomly and kisses my leg or arm. Late nights and upset tummies and watching SuperWhy! for the 90000000th time is worth every second for my little boy. I’ll sit and drink my tea lookin’ a hot mess any day if it means my son is happy and healthy and laughing in the other room.
