New Girl by Paige Harbison!
This has got to be one of the best young adult, teen romance novel ever! It's a parallel narrative so there's two stories but it's super good. This book has to be my introduction to more book with intimacy and real life situations. I read this first a few years back! I loved it and still love it.
The first story is about this girl who is breezing through high school with her friends. When she was younger she dreamed of going to Manderley Academy - boarding school. However she never got except, so she forgot about Manderley and accepted going through high school in her home town.
She is "surprised" in her senior year, when her parents tell her she's been excepted into Manderley. Of course, she's didn't want to leave now but she couldn't disappoint her parents so she left. She's never been a 'New Girl' before and that's the title she will acquire during her time at Manderley. We don't actually get to know her name until the end of the book.
When she arrives she finds Manderley to have gloomy atmosphere. Everyone stared at her, but for all the wrong reasons. Everyone thinks she's trying to replace, her, Becca.
Becca has gone missing and presumed dead but that doesn't stop her friends for having hope. The New Girl unfortunately has stepped into the middle of this mess taking Becca's place in Manderley. She meets Becca's friends, meets her boyfriend and sleeps in her dorm.
We meet Becca's, mysterious and attractive boy friend Max Holloway. He tries to protect the New Girl from Becca and her legacy. This, of corse, causes them to build up a bad reputation. The secrets in Becca and Max's relationship are revealed. To get a better understanding of who Becca really is.
Everyone believes The New Girl is trying to take Becca's life, her friends, everything. But what did Becca actual have and who knows more then they should?
She tries to keep a low profile at Manderley.
The odds are not in her favour.
Becca's is everywhere, haunting her around the halls. Everyone who's someone knows who Becca is or was. The only questions are: is she still alive? And what happened?
If you love a good YA book. You'll enjoy this book!
