Hey guys, late (and long) Nationals post here for you. -
So. where do I start?! The Bruins just won a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2010 in the closest, most exciting, and last Super Six competition ever!!! I was on the way home from a festival with my school band when results came out and while I wanted to scream and cry and have the world’s biggest dance party, I had to contain myself. I came home, watched the entire meet and completely LOST IT at the end when Peng hit her routine, got a perfect 10, and the team found out they had won.
It made my day to see their faces light up with excitement because these girls, along with their brilliant coaches, work SO hard inside the gym and out to become the best they can be not only as athletes but as people as well. They are inspirational, charismatic, and really just the people I’d love to surround myself with.
I was introduced to NCAA gymnastics for the first time 4 years ago, when I watched a video of one of the Bruins competing on bars (forgot her name☹️) She hit her routine and after she saluted, the entire team on the floor RAN over to congratulate her. I’d only been following elite gymnastics up until then, so seeing the girls’ reaction was just shocking to me.I thought to myself, wow this is amazing! I could practically feel the energy surging through my screen. I did some research on UCLA and NCAA gym and instantly fell in love with the team.
I still love this team more than ever to this day because they go beyond gymnastics. The philosophy and attitude Miss Val encourages is incredible; it’s life changing. I’ve applied so much of what she’s said to my own life and I've become a better person because of that. I love this team because they hold an unseverable connection. If you could sell the glue that holds them together, it'd cost millions of dollars. I love this team because they are fighters. They don't give up; they push through anything, from personal to physical problems, to deliver. I love this team because they are everything I want to be, and more. Thank you @uclagymnastics for showing what it's like to be the best people ever. I’ve never been more proud to be your biggest fan 💙💛
