Today we are here at #ovocafe to check out the #bauhus architecture. After knowing the rich history behind the old #wanchai market, it somehow hyped me up for the food. Unfortunately the menu doesn't have a wide selection of food, most are table-ready, I was particularly disappointed at the size of the kitchen.. well of course nothing can come out of that kitchen. The set menu that night offered two risottos and a toast option. I'm always suspicious when the restaurant keeps pulling out risottos option... is it because you can make it easily in a rice pot? Or you are actually going to do it properly? For a vegetarian restaurant, it really didn't offer a wide variety of protein option. It was mostly mushroom and carbs :/ It's really not that diet-friendly or flavorf... The plain egg salad and boring grilled vegetables laid on the very uninteresting toast. No spice no seasoning no love. The grilled portobello mushroom comes with a hearty spinach tart. Tastes ok... but for a flexible vegetarian, when I want vegetarian food, that means I'm looking out for my calories... not too sure who ovocafe's target audience is, but it sure ain't me. If you want good service and somewhere spacious to sit, ovocafe is your choice. If you want better vegetarian option and cheaper pricetag, #greencommon is about 50m away.
