per previous #flexibility post: here’s the break down:
(1) lie with the crown of your head touching the wall. Breathe. Imagine 100% of the surface area of your back expanding to 120% on the floor. This begins the stretching process.

(2) bring both feet up to the wall (use your hands). Try to press both heels into the wall 100%; press ankle bones and toes into each other as if your legs are fused. Pull stomach IN as you breathe deeply, and use your toes as ACTIVE LEVERAGE to press 150% of spine into the floor. Breathe deeply into any hamstring tension; VISUALIZE these areas becoming LONG and LIGHT as you EXHALE THE TENSION. Repeat for 3-7 slow breaths.

(3) visualize your spine having a powerful laser-beam extension, shooting TO opposite wall.. picture 150% of your back surface area pushing THROUGH the floor. Leverage your toes to push into the wall more, fusing your lower back further with floor. Pull stomach in and hyper extend knees nonstop. •
(4) if you feel pain, back off slightly for about 15 seconds while continuing to breathe deeply. VISUALIZE length & light overtaking tense areas.

(5) without shifting body, take one stick-straight leg off the wall, “beam” it straight to the ceiling. FEEL the deeper hamstring stretch for fixed leg. Breathe into that feeling; observe the new sensation. IF you feel pain, slowly back out an inch or two but keep both legs stick straight. Be patient: your body WILL accustom over time. Keep pointing the fixed toes into the wall, tighten quads, pull stomach in: it keeps your opposing muscles ENGAGED - so your mind THINKS it’s not actually a big stretch!

(6) ADVANCED: lower stick-straight free leg to hover off floor. Breathe & visualize power-ray of light extending from hip through knee/toes to opposite wall. Do not relax ANY muscle one bit. Focus on constantly pulling stomach IN while channeling energy through spine/hips & free knee/foot. Use hands to inch fixed leg closer to face as you point fixed toe to press your back DEEPER to floor.

This safe floor progression will help you to achieve active #oversplits.
