Hanssens are a ‘blendery’ using the worts of lambic ‘breweries’ Lindemans, Boon and Girardin. Aged in barrels and selecting percentages of 1 to 4 year old batches to blend, they create the balanced ‘gueuze’ to ferment in bottle for carbonation. Distinct brown lime cordial, wet wool, earth and vanilla. Light funk and plenty of zippy acid. Truly a style which lets nature take its course. An enjoyable introduction to this traditional form of Belgian brewing.
