Chavez : The Casino has 4/1 Odds. If I put my Money on the Casino I'll get 4x my Money back.
Canelo : You're not going to bet the Casino, you're going to Bet me. You would win my Purse. I make 4x more than you, so it doesn't matter.

You may remember Shanna and Atiana from the 2005 MTV reality show, #MeetTheBarkers which chronicled Shanna's life with then husband, #TravisBarker . While this series is set to focus on Shanna and Atiana, it's unclear if Shanna's other two children from Travis ( @landonasherbarker and @alabamaluellabarker ) will be making any appearances. For the first few days, there was a lot of respect between Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. - but all of that went out the window when the boxers left New York and flew to the next stop of their ongoing media tour. The two fighters will collide on May 6th at the T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas. Apparently the two boxers traded words and agreed to take part in a multi-million dollar bet, with the winner walking away with the majority of the money. Canelo hopes Chavez lives up to his word and offers up his purse after the fight. "He accepted, I accepted and in front of the cameras and I think we shook hands like gentlemen in front of the cameras. I think that in the United States, when something is promised verbally then it is official, so the bet is already on," Canelo told ESPN Deportes. "[We bet] his purse, or he goes home with double or goes home with nothing." "I did it because I do not like to offend people, I do not like to say things. When he starts to say that he's going to knock me out in 8 rounds, he said it from his mouth. I saw him in a video... saying that I have not fought with anyone. If he is so sure that he is going to beat me, that he is going to knock me out - I told him to bet his purse." In turn, Chavez Jr. acknowledged that he first needs to review the agreement to define how much money will be staked in the bet - because they have two completely different purses. Chavez Jr. does not want double of his own purse - he wants the full amount of what Canelo's purse would be. "If he says he's going to make four times [as much money] than I am, I should be grabbing an amount that is four times more. I think the fight is the most important thing. If he says he's going to win four times more than me, but if I'm going to win 6 million and he would win 24 ...let's see what the exact terms of the bet are going to be," Chavez Jr. said. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. estimated Tuesday that he weighed 183 pounds. If he was telling the truth, that’s encouraging news for Chavez fans, considering a fighter notorious for not taking training seriously still has 10 weeks to lose less than 20 pounds for his showdown with Mexican rival Canelo Alvarez. Chavez swore before a press conference at the Hard Rock Café in Manhattan that he has learned costly lessons from failures in previous training camps that will keep him on track to make the 164½-pound limit when he steps on a scale May 5 in Las Vegas. “I don’t want to be 190 or 200,” Chavez said, “because it’s no good for me.” That’s among the reasons why Chavez made sure following his victory over Germany’s Dominik Britsch on December 10 that he didn’t take too much time off from the gym. That’s how he had gotten out of shape so many times in the past, and Chavez was determined to not make the same mistake again, especially once this huge, lucrative opportunity became a realistic possibility. Chavez (50-2-1, 32 KOs, 1 NC) weighed in at 168 pounds, the super middleweight limit, the day before beating Britsch (32-3-1, 11 KOs) by unanimous decision in their 10-rounder in Monterrey, Mexico. About 2½ months later, the 6-feet-1 former WBC middleweight title-holder still is just 15 pounds over that limit. His greatest incentive to make weight is the well-documented contractual clause that’ll penalize Chavez $1 million per pound that he’s overweight for the Alvarez fight. If he’s just one ounce over 164½ on May 5, it’ll cost Chavez $1 million, a reality that made him laugh nervously Tuesday. “I’m doing OK with the weight,” Chavez said. “I have [paid] a lot of attention to this, because after my last fight I stayed training. I stayed at 180, because I think this is the key to winning this fight. Don’t kill my body [in camp to make weight].” News Credit:Boxing Scene #JulioCesarChavezJr #AlHaymon #PremierBoxing #CaneloAlvarez #OscarDeLaHoya #GoldenBoyBoxing #HBOPPV #MexicanStyle #CaneloChavezJr

Speed vs Speed ! #PacquiaoKhan

For the last couple of years, the big topic of debate for Canelo Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KO's) is whether or not he is an actual middleweight. Although Alvarez is the lineal middleweight champion, he has never fought at the middleweight limit of 160-pounds. But for his next bout, taking place on May 6th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Alvarez will face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KO's, 1 NC) at a catch weight of 164.5 pounds, nearly 5 pounds above the middleweight limit. Canelo makes it clear that after this spot, his next move is 160 pounds. “I’m going to be at 160 after this fight,” Alvarez told BoxingScene.com through his interpreter Robert Diaz. Canelo still holds the WBO junior middleweight title, a belt that he indicated to his team that he most likely will not defend. “I been talking about that with my team and I think the plan is to stay at 160 pounds and not defend the 154 pound title,” stated the Mexican superstar. Alvarez feels he’s also taking a risk in jumping up in weight. “It’s a risk we are both taking, he losing some pounds to come down and I have to come up a few pounds,” explained Alvarez. “We were in different weight classes and at one point I didn’t think a fight would happen but it came at a right moment and sometimes you need that in boxing. The fight took different paths because he was moving up in weight and my career was moving in a different path and now we’re here and that’s all that matters.” As for any concerns of Chavez Jr. making the weight for their highly anticipated bout on HBO pay-per-view, that’s not a concern for Alvarez. “We’re not worried about that, he has to worry about that. It’s in the contract so I hope he’s a man of his word and honors his contract.” News Credit:Boxing Scene #CaneloAlvarez #OscarDeLaHoya #GoldenBoyBoxing #JulioCesarChavezJr #AlHaymon #PremierBoxing #HBOPPV #MexicanStyle #CaneloChavezJr

Oscar De La Hoya was surprised just how much bigger Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is than Canelo Alvarez the first time he saw them stand next to each other this week. Their size difference figures to be at least as noticeable when the Mexican stars enter the ring May 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The 6-feet-1 Chavez (50-2-1, 32 KOs, 1 NC), who has fought as high as light heavyweight, expects to be 180 pounds on fight night, 15½ more than the contracted catch weight for their HBO Pay-Per-View main event. The 5-feet-9 Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) doesn’t know what he’ll weigh on fight night, but he doesn’t anticipate Chavez’s size advantage becoming more of a factor once the opening bell rings than Alvarez’s advantages in speed and skill. “I knew it,” Alvarez said Tuesday before a press conference at the Hard Rock Café in Manhattan to promote their fight. “It’s written. He’s [four inches] taller than me. That doesn’t bother me, doesn’t worry me at all.” The 26-year-old Alvarez has not weighed in at more than 155 pounds for any of his 50 professional fights. He expects, however, that he’ll push the weight limit of 164½ when he gets on the scale May 5 in Las Vegas. The Mexican superstar wouldn’t estimate how much he’ll weigh when he enters the ring. The only thing he knows for sure is that it’ll be less than the 180 pounds Chavez expects to weigh. “I can’t tell you right now how I’m gonna feel come fight night,” Alvarez said. “We’re gonna work with sparring partners that are gonna be heavier and bigger than me, so that we can start adapting to it. And I can tell you one thing, that in my training, in my camps, when I’m weighing between 160 and 165 is when I feel the best. So we’ll see come fight night.” News Credit:Boxing Scene #CaneloAlvarez #OscarDeLaHoya #GoldenBoyBoxing #JulioCesarChavezJr #AlHaymon #PremierBoxing #HBOPPV #MexicanStyle #CaneloChavezJr

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. isn’t insulted. He knows Canelo Alvarez picked him for his next fight because Alvarez considers Chavez a lower-risk, higher-reward proposition than Gennady Golovkin, despite Chavez’s significant size advantage. The enigmatic ex-middleweight title-holder is fine with that now that he has been presented with a lucrative chance to begin changing his damaged image May 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (HBO Pay-Per-View). “Canelo needs to fight me and I need to fight him,” Chavez said Tuesday before a press conference at Hard Rock Café in Manhattan. “I think this fight happened because Golden Boy flipped a coin. [They think] Chavez is easier than Golovkin and they’ll make more money. That’s why this fight happened.” The 31-year-old Chavez admits that he was surprised Alvarez agreed to fight him, even at a catch weight of 164½ pounds. Chavez (50-2-1, 32 KOs, 1 NC) figured they were too far apart in weight for them to meet at this point. He also has watched closely as Alvarez avoided fighting Golovkin, and expected the Mexican superstar to choose a smaller opponent, with less power, for his next fight. “I was very surprised,” Chavez said. “I never thought this fight would happen because of the weight difference and because Canelo, I think De La Hoya made a good career finding him opponents. This fight, I think it’s a little dangerous for Canelo. After the Lara fight and Mayweather, I didn’t see Canelo take a risk.” Guadalupe Valencia, Chavez’ attorney, added that without fighting Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs), Alvarez needs Chavez to help re-establish himself as a pay-per-view star following back-to-back pay-per-view events drew fewer buys than anticipated. Though Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) is listed as a 10-1 favorite, Alvarez-Chavez could emerge as the most successful pay-per-view show of 2017 and will be an enormous event throughout their native Mexico.
