UPDATED: Your East Pierce Firefighters were dispatched to a reported Motor Vehicle Accident at the intersection of SR 410 & Veterans Memorial Dr E, in #BonneyLake at 1217 Hrs. Quickly the address was corrected to be near Myers Rd E on Ehli Hill on EB SR 410. Crews arrived to find 2 vehicles, rear end type collision, and on fire, with a total of 5 possible patients. The first arriving engine company began to attack the fire and triage the patients. A very difficult task when only staffed with 2 people. And due to how busy East Pierce crews were on other calls, the closest dispatched medic unit was from downtown #Orting. Quickly the first in engine determined they had possible 5 patients, with 2 being of a possible serious nature. Additional medic units were requested, with one coming from Central Pierce, and the other being an East Pierce medic unit which was able to clear a previous call. All totaled, only 1 person was transported. In any type of trauma call the industry standard is to do your best to reach, treat, and transport trauma patients within 10 minutes. Contributing to this call difficulty was traffic also. East Pierce Fire crews were on previous calls in the #Sumner area, and when they did clear calls to respond, they could not take EB SR 410 because of the amount of traffic. This also affected the medic unit responding from downtown Puyallup. They all had to go around via Sumner-Tapps Hwy E to South Tapps Dr E to Myers Rd E. We are glad this call wasn't any worse. We hope for quick healing for those involved. Thank you to the citizens who stopped to offer help to the victims and our police and fire partners for the assistance. Stay safe. The roadway is now re-opened.
